Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
the cameras were supposed to have a monitor in the police station for criminal activity only,so that the police could catch the cholos at it. has nothing to do with insurance.Ms.Thang wrote:So, Spencer...does this just mean that the cameras will prevent damage and auto theft or is there insurance?
...Otros beneficios que otorgarán las empresas son la instalación de 9 cámaras de video vigilancia en donde se encuentren los estacionómetros y un seguro contra daños o robo de vehículos para los usuarios....

This whole thread is a joke, people complaining about having to pay 6 pesos an hour to park and expecting video surveillance to protect their cars as well.

Chris, I started this thread, and it is not about 6 pesos per hour. It is about being fined 200 pesos for parking on Hildago the 1st of April, when the newspapers, including the Guadalajara Reporter, reported that the City of Chapala would begin enforcement on the 8th of April.

But it is a cause celebre being spearheaded by F. Lee McMullen.

Good reasons to park in Chapala are to obtain goods and services not available elsewhere in Lakeside or to deal with taxes and permits. DUH!

Jim,I feel for you,I once ran into a donut shop on Pico Blvd for a bear claw and a cuppa coffee, didn't put the dime in the meter, came out two minutes later and found a $26 ticket on my windshield, you live and you learn.

I expect a reply from the Guadalajara Reporter, and will post their reply. Hopefully the City will void the tickets issued over the holiday week per published news articles the last week of March.

You never miss an opportunity to get personal, do you, Bubba? Same old bad tempered hound, snapping and sending insultograms. Double DUH back atcha.
This moron solved the neighbor problem by blocking their side views with a garage/casita.
Much quieter and more pleasant now in the patio.
BTW, I have no problem with the meters. It will make my life easier. I agree with the OP that they jumped the gun on tickets. It was a dirty trick. Not the first, and probably not the last.

One tip I have learned - I blast my air horns every time I pass Pedro's house. It adds a festive flavor, and discourages any partially deaf jaywalkers.

Dawg - found an air horn for you buddy - the Alabama fight song! It could serve as a car alarm too. As the ad says
http://www.redelephants.com/acatalog/Alabama_Automotive_Gift_Items.htmlAlabama Musical Car Horn. provides endless entertainment! Amuse your friends, entertain your neighbors or have a great time annoying the opposing team at tail gate parties! This is not a replacement for your regular car horn, but an additional horn that plays rather loud music!

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
I agree with Jim W about that first week in April that should be free. I first used the parking meters yesterday when I had to go to a bank to pay a fee to renew my drivers license. I had to pay 3 pesos.
On my way back from the bank, I went to a table where 4 expats were drinking coffee and asked them what they thought of these meters. They too thought parking was free last week but said that this week, they are very happy to pay the small fee. Because before there was a fee, they could never find a parking place in front of their favorite coffee shop. But now that one pays (I think) 1 peso per ten minutes that they can always find parking places.

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
My further thoughts are:
Meter maid kids were literally hiding and stalking people.
City should get more money or lion´s share
Idea would be nice for them to install cameras, hopefully the bad guys will stay away and not want to be on film
I asked the city to fix the big crater in the street 2 years ago, no response, I paid for the cement and fixed the sidewalk 3 years ago and the neighbors gardener filled the crater with dirt
I live on the first block and it should look nice as it is the image of the city

Slainte, the post in question was thoughtfully deleted, thereby keeping this thread out of the Octagon. I saw it....had nothing to do with you....

I saw it too, it was rude, obnoxious, and completely uncalled for. Shame on you Bubba.

Thank you. Bubba, aka "Hound Dog" aka...etc., just can't help hisself. Probably needs shots, a shorter chain, or a breathalyzer device on his keyboard preventing the "send" button from operating while writer is intoxicated.

Guadalajara Reporter Response
To all.........I just received the following email from the Guadalajara Reporter
Jim:
In response to your messages to the Reporter regarding the parking meters, just wanted to let you know that I´m still in the process of gathering information from city government and the private outfit that operates the pay-to-park system. There will be a follow-up story in our next edition, but I will advise you personally about possibility of recourse for persons ticketed on Hidalgo last week.
I regret that both the Reporter and the local Spanish weekly Página were misinformed by the company rep. about the holiday hiatus.
FYI, as of Monday morning the metered parking zone was extended on Avenida Madero with no prior notice...now stretching five blocks from Ramon Corona to Flavio Romero.
Regards,
Dale Palfrey

I keep telling you guys that neutering without anesthesia does strange things to person's mind.

So now what do we do when the machine doesn't spit out a ticket, like 30 minutes ago in front of Coldwell Banker?

You could email or call Dale Palfrey, reporter for the Guadalajara Reporter, as they are doing a follow up article in this weeks reporter.

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
I received a em from Dale yesterday, that the Guadalajara reporter will try to get answers from the city of Chapala, as they posted that parking was free on Hildago over the holidays, based on conversation with city employees. The Guadalajara reporter understands that many of us rely on their reports for information. Hopefully those that got tickets will get them cancelled....me, Oregon plates, auto out a here in 3 months....no pay !

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
I don't care what the Guadalajara Reporter said or didn't say based on what the Municipal Officials in Chapala said or didn't say. I haven't read the Guadalajara Reporter in a long time.
I love the new meters. I found convenient parking in Chapala two times this week while running random errands. And the dudes with the orange vests were helpful and in no way assertive/aggressive.
I LOVE THE NEW METERS.
Follow your justice, Jim W, and ¡mucha suerte!
