I don't think it's " nothing" . I think it's another scam to divert taxpayers money
( I am a taxpayer btw....ok I'm not but my husband is and I do the actual paying) ...into some corrupt individuals pockets and I don't see any good for Chapala coming from it . So far it has been a very good thing for us but for everyone else's business, not so much.
It is a breeze to park in Chapala now and the "ado" is much about everyone except us, the gringos, really.
I am just amazed that someone hasn't blown those things up yet.

Arent most people around here "taxpayers"? Like IVA, Pemex, CFE, ISR, etc. You almost have to be dead to avoid taxes of some form. Oh, I forgot the IEPS tax...like on your Telmex service.

Sounds like the municipality is getting the short end of the stick. Back in the states, parking fees were very lucrative for the cities. This sounds lucrative for the meter company. Someone's cousin?

Article in the GDL reporter yesterday, Comers the company contracted to install and issue citations in Chapala has written over 26,000 parking tickets since April 1st @ 200 pesos each over 5 million pesos in fines, although only 1/3 collected to date, Chapala gets a whopping 5% kickback.
