CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
Just an FYI, article says starting the 8th.........wife got a 200 pesos citation accross from Spencers office today. We probably assumed citation start date was the 8th. I haven't checked out location of parking meter purchase station, will tomorrow, good bet at least a block away.

Where is a map or something to indicate where the parking for cost is?
This is the first I heard of it.

Neil, LMAO they are ticketing, however the article implies that ticketing in the new areas will start the 8th. Gotta LMAO though, there is one sign 1/2 block past Spencers office showing new boundaries. Guess Spencer will have to work out Parking deal for clients now?

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
On Hidalgo (the street both spencer's office and my salon are on), the pay meter is in front of Coldwell Banker on the north side of the street, and on the south side, it is by the alley that goes to the malecon restaurant parking, in front of the nail salon and bionicos shops. There is a parking guy that hangs out along the street all day long. Tonight he was hanging out with his girlfriend who was ever so helpful at pointing out non-paying cars for him...
The pay parking is from the main intersection going west until right past Spencer's office, where the Lake Chapala Inn parking lot is, and across the street it is at the west end of the yellow solitary building (that has pay lots on both sides) that says "Viña" on it. Just stay to the west of both those places and you will be fine. Nearer to the mural.

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
They have a quota of 50 tickets. You need to complain to the municipality, they said they would not start until next week and they shouldn't be allowed to start at all until the meter company complies with their promise to install cameras, they lied and are trying to get out of their part of the deal, the local government is lazy and lied and we need to call them on it!

Spencer, Translated, the magazine does not give a date, only the end of holiday period......Which is ? GDL Reporter says April 8th enforcement to begin. I will contact them, before I throw the citation in the round file.

OK Spencer, now that you mention it: Let's say I get a parking ticket while I'm walking to the kiosk 3/4 block away and back.
Let's further say I'm stupid and on the principle of the matter (I have learned that's a difficult concept Lakeside), I'm going to fight it.
From what I'm told, there is no process for any minor traffic plea of "Not guilty."
So what say you amigo?

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
Excellent point Talosian. It is also conceivable that a 70 something, walking to the meter, might get caught up in a short conversation, further delaying return to vehicle. I drove thru there today, and honestly did not see the sign for paid parking area. This street will be a cluster F@@k of parking tickets as it is not adequately marked as pay to park zone.
I am still waiting for GDL Reporter response regarding article advising April 8th was date of enforcement! Hopefully they can get Chapala to cancel tickets issued.

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
The hourly parking fee is 6 pesos. Since the area has only 1 sign coming from Ajijic, if you missed it, you would not be aware of metered parking area, not to mention the meters are near Madero, on opposite sides of Hildago, as sage said near Coldwell Banker.

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
200 pesos means 100 pesos at least it is a whole lot less than in Guadalajara.
I stopped for no more than 5 minutes on La Paz in front of Multipack. I got out my money to pay and a friend who was with me started unloading boxes from the car and taking them to Multipack, I got distracted, grabbed the last box and forgot all about the money. The Multipack man was doing the paperwork when I brought the last box, he was very quick and I turned around and saw the ticket, it was that quick...I went to pay it at the bank on my way home the ticket was 600 pesos! I paid 300...my fault but that was stiff for a short moment of inattention...

That sucks as well, but, what does that have to do with the newspaper reporting parking fines would begin on April 8th....after the holiday week. It should also be noted the ticket says pay at OXXO....LMFAO, they didn't have a clue, as no bar code no scan, no record.....once again foreign plates, citation hits the round file.

The print what they are told after they interview those responsible. You know this country better than that: things change on a whim, or even more likely, were never set in stone in the first place.

Mike, I am not sure I understand your reply. Are you saying that the GDL reports what they are told......I agree! What is your point on the balance of your post? My point was and is there are no pay stations near Spencers office. How would anyone know this is a metered parking area? Please take a few minutes and do a drive thru from both directions!

Well I won't be going to Chapala any time soon except when I need Spencer and will ask for advice as to where to park first. Wonder what impact this will have on business in Chapala.
