Lets hope that the new administration does something to improve the deplorable parking situation.

HAHAHA, good luck with that...so far the new govt. has started out by eliminating a bunch of parking spaces with the median strip "improvement" project opposite city hall

There are some potholes that will soon be large enough to park in.

If the new administration wanted to make a good first impression he should consider filling these potholes. After all, it is a relatively inexpensive project that would make a lot of people very happy.

Re: Parking in Chapala...
The carretera into Chapala is a state road and not the responsibility of Chapala. But the presidente could make a a forceful appeal to the state. The media walkway that is being constructed in front of the Palacio is ridiculous as a pedestrian walkway. Entering and exiting the walkway will be dangerous.
The extra wide sidewalk directly in front of the Palacio is inviting for tourists and an asset. But where are tourists supposed to park? Locals can't even find a spot, especially since the food vendors are taking up many parking spots north of the plaza. The plaza looks empty and unused without the vendors. I think they should be allowed back on the plaza in limited spaces.

It cracks me up that the vendors that used to be set up in the plaza now occupy parking spaces along the Avenida next to the plaza.

Re: Parking in Chapala...
It made sense during renovation of the plaza. Now it does not.
Both the plaza and the shopping would benefit by their return.

One block south of the Palacio, calle Ramon Corona has parking from one end to the other, a 5 or 10 minute walk to the Palacio and adjacent to the park and malecon or park there and call a taxi.

It also made sense when they had the parking meters and parking was available usually near the store that you intended to frequent.

On the weekends when the tapatios are here there is no parking anywhere. Even the neighborhood streets between the malecon and the plaza are crammed with cars with no space for homeowners who don't have off-street parking. It's a mess!
