WM Parking Lot Empty WM Parking Lot

Post by Trailrunner Thu Sep 14, 2017 10:46 am

I keep forgetting to post this:

A week or so ago, I parked in the WM lot around 6pm and just ran in for one thing. Had the dog in the car. When I came back there were 2 cops on a moto parked up front and one of them came over to talk to me. He said I should never leave the windows down as this was an extremely bad place for car theft. I said I knew that but had the dog in the car. . .he laughed and said "they just steal the dog too!!!" So, I said ok, got it. Then his partner, both of them were really nice and they kept saying they just wanted to warn me, asked if she could take my name for a report saying they had warned me and since she had already taken my plate down I decided a fake name would be inappropriate so I gave it to them and thanked them for the warning.

Yesterday I ran into Mario (restaurant) and Maria and they warned me about the WM parking lot. Said they had been over a couple of days ago at 3 in the afternoon and while they were shopping someone had tried to steal their car and damaged the locks and/or window.

So. You/we/I've been warned. Either park somewhere else or don't shop there.

Thanks for the warning, but where is "somewhere else" which would be burglar-free and convenient ? Also, I don't know of any other markets that have their parking lot patrolled for the security of their customers, do you? The worst bum in town often hangs out in front of Superlake.

We try to park in a very visible spot, usually next to the central walkway and since we don't have a dog, the windows are up and the car locked. If I did have one, I'd be inclined to leave it at home when I go shopping, knowing it would be stuck in the car and sometimes getting overheated. When we park on the street, we use a steering wheel lock. Have never had a problem, but fingers crossed for the future.

Thank you for the warning, Trailrunner. I don't often shop at Walmart and this is just one more reason to avoid it.
