Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
I don't care what the Guadalajara Reporter said or didn't say based on what the Municipal Officials in Chapala said or didn't say. I haven't read the Guadalajara Reporter in a long time.
I love the new meters. I found convenient parking in Chapala two times this week while running random errands. And the dudes with the orange vests were helpful and in no way assertive/aggressive.
I LOVE THE NEW METERS.
Follow your justice, Jim W, and ¡mucha suerte!

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
Who are the dudes in the orange vests and what do they do????
I don't mind paying at all if it means I can park my car conveniently. Just want to know how to do it and not get booted while I'm trying to get the ticky and comply.

Does anyone know how long you can park in the same spot? And where is the machine closest to Spencer's office?

The parking meter is on both sides of the street....Hildago in front of Coldwell banker, Or you can park just west of Spencers office in the free zone.
I don't know what the maximum time limit is, without going out and feeding the meter. I put 10 pesos in the other day, got an hour plus ....cost is 1 peso for 10 minutes.

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
Thanks Jim I may have to do the west of Spencer thing. Wish there was a parking lot where I didn't have to worry about the time running out.

Carolyn, Almost forgot...there is a lot to park n pay across from Spencers office. Also the free parking begins 15-20 feet west of his office, and would be a shorter walk than the parking meter in most cases.

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
Regarding the Parking meter issue. The city has subcontracted to a company out of GDL....COMERS, They don't have a local number.
If you received a parking ticket, during the Easter Holiday week ending Sunday April 7th, 2013, you may get lucky and get ticket canceled by contacting the City Atty. General, SINDICO, Moises Sanabria. as the local Spanish paper and Guadalajara Reporter published info received from the city indicating parking was free on Hildago till the 8th, or pay the 200 pesos and fa ged a boud it!
I know the issue isn't dead, as Guadalajara Reporter is concerned about losing circulation, as a result of the perception that they published incorrect info.
The meters are a great addition as we now have adequate parking available

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
LOL, the Reporter will never have to worry about losing circulation, as long as it is the only English language paper. And that is not meant as a slam.
I don't think we now have adequate parking... what we have is a standoff period. When (if) the meters have been here long enough, it will be business as usual and everything will be full again. The last time we had meters, they got cut off at the knees as soon as the next administration took office.

Re: CHAPALA PARKING TICKETS
Honestly Folks! When Jim W first made this post 110 posts ago and 3000+ views, it was about part of the new parking zones having enforcement when a number of media publications had declared or announced there was a moratorium until April 8th. It is quite apparent that any number of residents consider these new policies to be just another negative adjustment to their assumed lifestyle. Good Grief! $60MXN per hour is certainly enough to turn my life upside down!

Well at least certain forum members don't have to pay to park at WallyWorld while they spend their money on those great bargains at the world's largest retailer!
