Could you reword this: "but I have a 2 of fever"?

Re: More on the virus
This article may be behind a pay wall. It is about how the corona virus is affecting maids throughout Latin America. Very little of it is specific to Mexico. If you are trapped behind the pay wall and interested strictly in Mexico it is probably not worth reading.
Maids How the Latin American maid culture is affected by corona virus.

Re: More on the virus
Statistics I find interesting of late:
- 30% of cases in China have been determined to be asymptomatic, much greater than previously believed.
-cough or sneeze can aerosolize for 3 hours. (i.e., patient nebulizer treatments implicated in creating airborne reservoir infecting nurses, medical personnel)
-experience suggests that if a patient is put on a ventilator, the risk of death is 70% (Seattle) and 86% (Korea/China)
-use of steroids to reduce inflammation in early stages of URI/bronchitis highly contraindicated, impacting recovery. (& probably includes those taking corticosteriods routinely for pain, etc)
-when the cases start doubling every 2 days, community spread in full swing. It looks like Mexico is doubling every 4 days, so almost there..
****
IMHO, they are delaying forced lockdown until after Holy Week, so as to not create panic. Mex City ahead of Guad on curve, has a young, still congregating population of non-believers, so kind of a perfect storm, and this case, a cytokine storm, where overwhelming response of youthful immune systems overdo it & that is what causes organ failure & subsequent death versus the drowning in pneumonia secretions & secondary bacteria infection of (most often) the right lower lung in the elderly.. both rapid..

Both Italy and Spain have now surpassed mainland China. Italy by far has the highest death rate at 11%. They have triple the deaths than what China is reporting.

Mexico's numbers have been doubling about every 5 days. Do the math and see where we could be in 5 weeks. I get about 30,000. Of course it may pick up speed like in the US.

Re: More on the virus
The reaction in Mexico is wild .. Mexco is letting tourists from Italy and Spain in.. welcome to more virus.. In Chiapas few people believe it is real and it will be ugly by the time they figure it out but some towns like Chenalho, the president is closing the municipality, no entry and no exit.. I wonder how long that will last..

Re: More on the virus
I don't know what others are doing to disinfect their houses. I went to Ajijic Wally World a few times and the lysol shelves were cleaned out empty. So on a Costco trip I jumped into the Mega store next door and they had Lysol Liquid Cleanser in 5 liter bottles for about 200 pesos.

Re: More on the virus
Yep. Works for me too. 1 part cloro to 5 parts water in a spray bottle.

Is cloro more effective than lysol?

Don't know. Does Lysol kill the virus? Cloro kills everything.

All I can say for sure is that having worked in a microbiology lab for years, we disinfected with diluted Clorox bleach not lysol. It works and it's cheap.

Lysol is sold as an antibacterial cleaner. Covid 19 is a virus.
Bleach is cheap and way more effective.

My guess would be the exponential climb in cases and C-19 deaths will not appear until the middle of April given the dismal record of preparation by the government and indifference on the part of so many residents.
I suspect Mexico will be one of the harder hit countries as well.

Re: More on the virus
I'm afraid that will be true too. Also, we (or I) don't hear much about all of Latin America. How is Guatemala doing? Costa Rica? Seems LA is running late compared to the rest of the world.

Costa Rica has 347. I didn't see Guatemala.

If you consider that testing is not being done as it should then the exponential rise is upon us and we’re not seeing it (yet)..SunFan wrote:My guess would be the exponential climb in cases and C-19 deaths will not appear until the middle of April given the dismal record of preparation by the government and indifference on the part of so many residents.

Re: More on the virus
There is almost 1,000,000 cases worldwide. The US has 215,000 of those with Italy, Spain, China, France and Germany having very high numbers as well. Some say this will affect 60% of the world.

Re: More on the virus
I was at the hospital in San Antonio to see my Doc for my physical. And I am doing fine for my age.
I asked if there were any reported Corona Virus patients in the area. I was told that although a few had been tested, so far no one has tested positive for the virus.
I am sure that it will be here. I just hope it comes late :)
