Slainte... appears not to be your doing. My apologies. Lizzy
What's the problem? It seems to work for me.
Are they maybe trying to use the "multi-quote" button?
Re: New Format
I used "quote" button when I answered Slainte's post... quote function didn't appear to work as it should... don't know what he used.
but , as you can see, my statement came up without the box as well...
Do you know wazzup? Lizzy

The only way that should be able to occur is if you typed within the starting and ending [quote] code. You have to be sure you are outside of that.
Re: New Format
Yeah... I am aware of that.... Thanks
Could it have anything to do with the fact that there are no quote marks at the tail end of the post(s)?
I was sure to write below the box on the first post to slainte as I hoped to set an example.
Well... we know THAT didn't work! Don't mind a little egg on my face now and then, but I would sure like to know just HOW I did it...? L

Re: New Format
Yep that would do it. I have learned to watch for that. It has nothing to do with our new format though.
Re: New Format
This is what is appearing on my screen:

The avatar mixed in with the quote scrambles the message?

CB:
A new mystery for you to solve. If I lower the QuickJump Menu and go to the last option "Log On", my user name and password will not work and I get an error message. If I go to the box at the bottom of the Home Page and enter the very same info - it will log me on. ?????????
Rotating photos are an interesting change - maybe a bit too fast? Now you just need to add some sound tracks. HA!

Cheena, I just tried the same thing and had no difficulties - logged out, then logged back in using the drop down menu.

Re: New Format
The foto header change is pretty fast but doesn't seem to be slowing the site. Minutes rather than seconds might be easier to look at since this is about messages. Looks like foto quality has gone down to allow a faster load time

No apology needed as I am computer semi-illiterate and would have taken the blame without prejudice.
But thank you anyway and I would never dare to put words in your mouth...hard enough to put words in my own mouth...if you know what I mean.

Re: New Format
I'm having some problems with the new forum format.
I rarely use my laptop and desktop computers anymore. I'm trying to do everything with my smartphone. I can't seem to get the Navbar to do anything. With my smartphone, I use my fingers to select things. Maybe my fingers are too fat to activate the Navbar. Perhaps if you made the Navbar a little bigger, I could use it. Also the Navbar disappears about 60 percent of the time.
I have done more research trying to solve this problem. I thought the problem might be the browser I was using. I installed the Dolphin browser and I it has the same problem. Also I tried the Google Chrome browser and it has the same problem. Then I tried the Opera Mini browser and it seems to work. So it appears to me that most Android browsers are having a problem with a code you're using on the page to show the Navbar.
I can not get into my preferences and edit my profile. A solution in my case would be for you to retain the original links to edit my profile or change the coding that displays the Navbar. Or I may have to have two browsers installed on my phone, a situation I would like to avoid because it just takes up more RAM that I could use for other things.
Bob, I appreciate your efforts to try and streamline the forum. Thanks a lot and good luck.
Thanks for your help.

Re: New Format
Using the opera mini browser, there are other problems that prevents me from switching to that browser. Your photo at the top of the page does not show up using it and it is slow and its takes many tries before links work.

I was having problems too. What I did to solve it was to scroll the page up a bit, then the nav bar worked for me. FYI
Re: New Format
Maybe, its because I have an iPhone 4 and their screens are a little smaller than many of the newer smart phones, but I have such a problem with the keyboard, I know I would have trouble with the drop down "QuickJump menu even if it worked and it might because I could never click on the correct link. (you know always trying to click on one letter or command and sometimes hitting another)
I know most kids would have no problem and many of you here don't seem to have trouble either, but I'm just going to have to stick with a screen no smaller than than an iPad screeen. But that's just me.
Maybe the new iPhone 5 with its at least 4 inch screen will be large enough for these old fingers.

Re: New Format
I have solved my problem with a workaround. What I did was use the opera mini browser to go to the edit profile page and then create a bookmark to go directly to edit profile. Then I was able to uninstall the opera mini browser and I'm okay.
Thanks for your help.

I take that back. I went to bottom of home page to login and clicked and nada.. went to nav bar top of home page. Did not see login option. Hmm. On my phone I use classic version so I can post. Mobile no posting.

Re: New Format
For me the navbar works fine... I just had to get used to it. (I have a 10" ACER mini laptop.) small screen
Pete, I had to scroll down the top for full access to the navbar too.
As to the difficulties presented by the "full-figure-finger"... have you considered using a stylus? Might solve the problema. Lizzy
