Scotia ATM
I drove past the Scotia ATM yesterday and noticed the side glass was smashed and the ATM was gone. There were some workmen doing something. Anyone know what's going on with it. Replacement or was it ripped off?
Re: Scotia ATM
The storage facility is supposed to provide security for that ATM. Must have been ripped off when a back was turned. It is no use replacing the ATM if they do not improve the software. My partner had had 3 miss-withdrawals in the last 6 months. Trying to get her money back is a nightmare.

Re: Scotia ATM
That guard is there 24 hours per day? If so, maybe they were replacing the machine.
I use that machine every week and only had a problem one time when I tried to take out too much at once. The machine jammed and shorted me. I eventually got my money back.

Re: Scotia ATM
I hope they replace the ATM soon, and have everything secured again. It sounds like some thieves must have taken it, if the side glass was smashed. If they were just replacing the machine, they wouldn't smash the glass! I would think that they would have a security camera focused on that kiosk!

Re: Scotia ATM
Well those ATMs are GPS tagged and usually have exploding dye packs that go off when you try to open it. It is crazy to steal one now a days. I was thinking maybe the workers accidentally smashed the glass while removing the machine. Let's hope they replace it soon as the next closest Scotia is GDL airport.
Re: Scotia ATM
It's still out of service as of 1/2 hour ago. The glass is still broken on the side.

Re: Scotia ATM
Well, in the meantime, there's always the HSBC ATM across the street. That's the one I use whenever the Scotiabank machine runs out of money.

Re: Scotia ATM
I prefer to use the Scotiabank ATM since I have an account in Canada and don't pay any fees so I guess we'll have to see how long this will take to get it up and running.

Yes, I obviously prefer the Scotiabank because I have had my accounts with them for over 40 years in Canada, but if there's no money in their machine (which happens usually on a long weekend or during fiesta times), I will go to the HSBC.

I prefer CIBanco by Wing's Army. They only charge $17 pesos AND don't eat your card.

Re: Scotia ATM
I have heard that CI Banco gives good rates.
I wonder how much the fee would be at NOB bank though?
17 pesos is cheap.

Yes, that's where I go when Scotia is down.

The fee from your bank will be the same regardless of which ATM you use.

Except I have a Scotiabank account in Canada so when I use the Scotiabank ATM here, there are no fees at all.

Yes eagles100, we all realize that, and most of us commenting have a Scotiabank account, and we all use it when we can so that there are no fees charged. But if the ATM isn't working, it doesn't matter if there are fees or not......if you need money, you have to get it from one of the other bank ATMs!

Guys with bags of cement are usually a good sign -- unless you are on a dock with a couple of mob guys.

Re: Scotia ATM
Yep, they are working on it. Who knows, maybe it will be back in operation sooner than later.
Re: Scotia ATM
I opened an account with Scotia Bank in Canada so that I might use this machine in Ajijic...
The one and only Scotia Machine with it's staggering withdrawal limits and down times has pissed me off to the point where
I don't bother with it at all.
HSCB has much more user friendly limits. I withdraw 12,000 pesos at a time, usually lasts a month.

hockables, I can withdraw $10,000 pesos daily from the Scotiabank machine, if I choose. Anyone that needs to withdraw more than that at a time, definitely has a spending problem!
