Re: More on the virus
Mexico is reporting 62,577 confirmed cases this morning. Another big one day jump.
Re: More on the virus
My county has 686 cases but the stores, restaurants and the beaches are packed with no one wearing masks. I’ll bet someone forgot to notify the virus.

Just as an fyi.......I was at a local poker game the other night and the place was filled with young Mexican men from GDL. I asked how they got through the roadblocks and they said there is a back dirt road that bypasses the road blocks.

Re: More on the virus
There are plenty of them shopping in La Huerta shopping center and plenty of them in town. They may have houses here , I do not know but there are lots of them here/ A doctor friend of mine from Guadalajara told me he had o problems coming down here with his family. He does have a house but he says .. no problem
All you need to do is to memorize an address. All my ids and driver[s license are from Chiapas and I have o problem coming in either.,

This was posted on TOB, of course they shredded him - gringohombre leading the attack with his FAKE NEWS war chant. Moron.

"I just want to pass on an update I have from my friend, Dra. Margarita Ibarra Lloyd, a nephrologist who works at the Nueva Hospital Civil. It looks like things just went critical in GDL today. Her hospital went from 10% to 80% occupancy with covid-19 cases in just one day, today. Two health care workers were sent home after testing positive, and they are waiting for more test results. What this means is now more than ever is the time to really take things seriously. We have a lot of visitors from Guadalajara Lakeside today, and when I went for groceries, I saw very few with face masks or doing any kind of social distancing. Nani has told me that this is the most critical time for our area to not let down our guard. The Epidemiologist in Jocotepec says that June is when we can expect a lot of cases. So it's still stay home, stay safe. Please don't relax your guard just yet, no matter how fed up we all are of quarantine. Could you pass this on to your networks please? Its important the word gets out."

Yes, more in my 'hood this weekend and walking on Colon. With the restaurants open they have more of an incentive to come to their weekend homes. I realize Moy's instructions to eateries is "locals only" but who's gonna turn away any customers after the last 2 months??
And for those who may ask, how can you tell they're Tapatios....the neatly pressed khaki shorts with short-sleeve dress shirts worn by the Dads are a dead giveaway, as well as the equally well-dressed Moms and kids all getting out of a large new model SUV.
Many do have homes here; over the years I have seen many Moms+kids spend weekdays here with Dads joining them on the weekends (presumably working in Guad during the week). With schools closed in Guad, I think this has started now instead of in July.

Predictable. Here in s. Texas Cameron county has 698 cases and Hidalgo county has 504 cases. They have been going up at about 10-20 cases daily but Memorial Day saw tons of people go shopping, eating out, and the beaches and bars were packed, with most people not wearing masks. I’ll be watching the numbers for next week .

Congratulations are in order for the U.S. (not). The greatest nation on the face of the earth with all it's money and expertise and knowledge has now over ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DEATHS FROM COVID-19. https://covid19info.live/
And I borrowed this from Jreboll... it seemed more appropriate to put it here... an obituary list of the first 1000 who died...

This is from La Pagina's FB page (auto-translation):
The municipality of Chapala already has a first confirmed case of the new Coronavirus (Covid-19). According to the same platform as with the support of the Federal Ministry of Health (SSA) and the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) was developed to show the advance of the pandemic in #Mexico based on official data, indicates that it would be a man between 65 and 69 years old. It's an outpatient case, that is, he has not needed hospitalization and is isolated at home.

Info from GDL Reporter's FB page,
According to the statistics registered by federal health authorities, Chapala has one inhabitant of the municipality who has tested positive for the disease, 31 accumulated negative tests and five suspicious cases under review.
Current figures for Jocotepec are one positive test, 32 negative tests and three pending suspicious cases.

Re: More on the virus
Great article from New Yorker about how to re-open. They illustrated social distancing with the video below. Look at the number of feet an infected droplet can carry with a sneeze or even loud talking! The first example is regular talking and the 2nd is when shouting, laughing, sneezing. Up to 20 feet.

https://www.newyorker.com/science/medical-dispatch/amid-the-coronavirus-crisis-a-regimen-for-reentry
It has now become well recognized that, under the right conditions of temperature, humidity, and air circulation, forceful coughing or sneezing can propel a cloudburst of respiratory droplets more than twenty feet. Yet it wasn’t until the sars epidemic in 2002, after several cases documenting more distant spread, that authorities doubled the at-risk distance from three to six feet. In one case, a man with sars on a three-hour flight from Hong Kong to Beijing infected twenty-two people, five of whom died. The twenty-three passengers in the same row or the three rows in front of the index patient bore the highest risk: eight fell ill. So did the flight attendant for the patient’s section. Extending the recommended distance made sense. But six feet was simply a choice guided by practicality. People seven rows away—around eighteen feet—developed sars, too.

I am doing just what I have been doing, no more, no less. No large gatherings or crowds of any sort, wear mask in public, social distance, and wash hands. I am cautious but not fearful.
