He got a stapf infection on it and then the blood thinners made him hemorrage and then as they change the dosis the filters got stuck.. , yes that system has a lot of risks besides being expensive. It was a last ditch effort as hs lungs were showing sign of a slight recovery.. but in the end the virus won..

When you’re in the medical field you have a few hectic days a year but this is an ongoing event right now and it is depressing and demoralizing to have it go on for so long. These are truly heroic efforts being done.

yes the true heroe are the health workers.. They are underpaid, overworked and risk their lives for other.w and meanwhile people do not obey the rules or bitch about being inconvenienced..how demoralizing is that?.

And governments/hospitals are not supplying sufficient ppe or even masks! A perfect storm for human annihilation.

My hematólogo says there aren´t any studies about it´s relationship as an underlying condition as it pertains to Covid-19, as it is a very rare condition, BUT, his opinion is  that there isn´t the danger that exists with conditions such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Obesity, Pulmonary diiseases, Heart diseases, and the worst being Cancer.

Slainte, don't worry. By the time we humans have had the good fortune to reach an advanced age we have collected a smattering of some of the above. It's the aging process. If you avoid the lifestyle diseases one gets from smoking, drinking too much, eating too much, sedentary lifestyle, and take reasonably good care of yourself your body will compensate. Add to that seeing medical professionals for checkups to look for hidden dangers so they can be caught in time, we are doing the best we can do for our old selves.

You look very healthy to me! Keep doing whatever you are doing and STAY HOME. That's all we can do now. Stay home and avoid ALL other human contact. That's all we can do.

It hasn’t been mentioned and I am not a doctor but there is a condition called thrombocytopenic purpura in which emboli start forming in all parts of the body. This would show up as finger oxygen sensors showing low oxygen saturations but the patient not exhibiting any distress usually associated with it. Children in Italy were found with frostbite-like lesions on their toes. The paper by that doctor in New Orleans said they were starting to use tpa. That is a thrombolytic agent used to break up clots. This condition would also cause diminishing platelet count and havoc throughout the body.
