I guess its the unseen consequences of panic buying...How many people remember the gas shortages in the 70"s in the US.....Much inconvenience but the sky did not fall in,,....maybe in the longer term the money saved from the stealing etc can contribute to building refineries in Mexico

The gas shortage in the 70's is burned into my memory since at the time, I was owner/operator of a business that had a 2" pipe feeding gas to a volcanic sand expanding furnace 24/7. It was a disaster to more than a few businesses. I can imagine what this current problem is doing to many means of livelihood.

We filled the tank of our small car early in the week and are glad we live within walking distance to most things we want/need.

Just made three tops in Guadalajara yesterday. The glass factory, Tonala and the Abastos.

Traffic was non existent and parking anywhere was a breeze. Sure wish I had an electric vehicle.

I would love an electric vehicle. My tank is at half full. I know from experience that the last half goes a lot more quickly than the first half. I was at the Riberas station at 7 am this morning. No gas.
Ah well. Such is life. A tank of gas usually lasts me about six weeks.
I am thinking that I want to leave the gas for those who need it to work. I have access to a bus and shopping close by. This too shall pass.

I checked two stations this morning and they are still closed. Ajijic and SAT.

Thank you CB, I was just going to ask if people would post the gas haps and their observations as the days progress. I only have a quarter tank and I'm saving it for emergencies and don't want to waste it.

Mexican friends who live in Ajijic were raving about how different it was yesterday without the tapatios! No traffic, horns, less parked cars, and most of all - no trash! And yes, businesses suffered a bit of a loss yesterday.

The city of Mexico planning to adopt a plan to sell fuel daily based on the last digit on license plates. Seems the fuel shortage might last a bit more. Jalisco state hasn't come up with a plan. - - - as per a post seen on Facebook.

Mexico City has had that gasoline 'plan' in place for years ... so maybe they maybe they adopting some changes???
Don't know.

I've been here a long time ..... and as far as I know MX is the only city that has set up that kind of plan. Maybe Jalisco is next ????

Mexico City only allows you to drive your vehicle on certain days of the week to reduce smog levels.

Maybe AMLO should reduce the price of gas to the point where it isn't worth stealing. I don't recall hearing about gas thefts as much back in the days of the subsidized prices.

MX city had or has some restrictions by license plates ..... ah, for smog only? I thought it was also gas .... if not, I stand corrected. I just remember those that got tickets trying to get through MX City on the 'wrong' day' ...

If your car can't be on the road on certain days because of the restrictions by license plates, it stands to reason that your car won't be getting gas either.
Unfortunately, by restricting license plate numbers to the road, the consequence has been that people got a second car.
How else would anyone conduct their business?

I was just out again and noticed a 1/2 KM line-up (and growing) for the Ajijic gas station. Perfect example of sheep mentality. They have no gas but someone stopped to wait so others join the line. Then the line gets so long that those at the back can't be bothered to walk up and see that no one is getting any......jaja.

I just heard the BP on the libriemento got a delivery and are pumping gas. There is already about 500 cars in line.
