Not a safe place to buy if you ask me. There are many remote areas in Michoacan where the only option is barrel gas probably robado. Lots of closed Pemexes in those mountains of the Purépecha. The only game in town.

Up Colon at the top. Colon is the street that runs alongside the East Pemex. Probably anyone in Nextipac knows. Not a particularly safe area.

I think we absolutely are! Esp after reading that article in RS.

The only way I can see the gov winning is if they shut down all pipelines and distribute by pipas with well-paid military escort. And orders to shoot to kill.

The government is first gong after Pemex and the station that are not going to buy what obviously they should be.. if a lot of the demand or clientes are buying legal gas the cartels will have to look somewhere lese.. or threaten th gas station that do not buy from them.. We mat see less gas stations if that happens...

I think you could protect pipelines with a system of electronic sensors. The US has thousands of miles of pipelines and I do not remember of any terrorists attacks on these systems that were successful.

Or you could build a wall to encase the pipeline and make Rudy Giuliano pay for it.

THe US does not have the cartels that have been stealing gas for years and all of a sudden will be deprived from millions ..and wll do everything they can to keep their business. Yes they probably need electronic surveillance, actually they probably can see on their screen when the pressure goes down on part of the pipeline then they have to send the army and make sure they are not outgunned.. probably not that easy..

I would focus on the gas stations that sell stolen fuel. Take away the means of selling it in such large quantities.

Sounds like he's going to do all these things. Bravo!! Gov has received over 6000 applications to drive the tanker trucks. Creating jobs as well. Double Bravo. This is an interesting historical time to be living in Mexico, could be inconvenient at times and maybe dangerous as the corrupt fight back. Hope it works for this good country and these good people.

Editorial .- A few hours after being reopened the gasoline pipe Salamanca-Guadalajara, have already been reported three holes, which have been repaired as quickly as possible.

In this regard, the director of PEMEX, Octavio Romero Oropeza, said that the pipeline continues to operate normally, as the mishaps were repaired in a matter of hours, but stressed that Jalisco is one of the states with more problems to normalize the supply of fuel through this type of practices.

As commented by Romero Oropeza, the first drilling occurred around 10:00 in the morning. The pipeline was closed for repair until 4:30 in the afternoon. Minutes later a second leak was reported that caused the flow to be prevented again to repair it, reopening it at 6:30 in the afternoon, and the third perforation was reported minutes after opening causing its closure until approximately 8:05 pm .

In spite of the facts, a recovery is foreseen in the next days in question to the shortage of gasoline for the municipalities of the State of Jalisco.

Those pipes probably aren't used to having full pressure in them now that all the illegal taps have been removed.

Interesting time.

My biggest worry/concern is that the cartels will want to terminate the President. With him gone, who else would step in and do what he is doing?

Riberas had gas at 7:30 this morning. 30 minute wait for 500 pesos. No premium. Well organized.

Problem is, who knows what it would be when you get there? Plus, the gas it takes to get there. And what if it's only $500 worth being sold per person?
