New Roast Chicken Joint
Going in next to the Italian Ice Cream place/ Mailbox / Super Lake. It looks like a Pollo Loco franchise, which is pretty good, with good pricing. I'm glad its not one of those Los Pollos Hermanos places - nice teeshirts but their fry batter makes me jittery:D

Re: New Roast Chicken Joint
I ate there last week: lovely people, dry overcooked chicken. I'll try once more in case I was too early, too late or too unlucky, but I'd love to read someone else's take on it.

Yeah, danschaller, I got a chicken there. It was been high-cooking lunchtime, and should have been fresh off the rotisserie. Precooked, prepackaged, dry, tasteless, shrivelled up little thing. Pulled right out of a cooler. Yech.

Re: New Roast Chicken Joint
There's a place in Ajijic, just west of the post office, on the corner, if memory serves me. They advertise organic pollo in addition to the regular. Anybody tried them. The "authorities", aka " food police" say to cook pollo to 165 degrees internally. For me that = dry bird. I pull it off @ 150 - 155, as long as the juices are running clear. Residual heat is still cooking the bird. The problem with pollo is the legs take longer to cook. I like "Dusty Chicken". There I can be part of the process and put my name on a particular pollo, not just - gimme a pollo. That being said, they're decent folk and have been around a long time. Must be doing something right. Maybe it is the "dust".

Re: New Roast Chicken Joint
I buy my grilled chicken in chapala next to La Dispensa . I have a technique...I ask the guy doing the grilling to take one off the grill for me 15-20 minutes before they are done. I have to swear that I am going to cook it some more in the oven at home for an evening meal. Then I take it home and eat it because its perfect. Dry chicken sucks.
