Chicken Fried Chicken

After last week's surgery, I craved a carb-laden comfort food served with a good lake view. Needed to be fork tender and easy-to-eat since one hand remains in a sling.

Off to Nuevo Posada for lunch. They are no longer open for dinner, but when they were we ate many a May dinner under their expansive shade tree. Food was never steller, but they do a few things well.

Chicken fried chicken is one of them. Crispy outside, tender inside. Served with the requisite white gravy and a mountain of mashed potatoes. 180p.

Now you have me craving it. My mother made great fried chicken but I hated when she did because I was the one who had to clean the stovetop of all that splattered grease.

fyi, chicken fried chicken is the poultry version of a chicken fried steak. Not whole pieces of chicken..more of a milanesa, pounded breast. Breaded or battered (couldn't be sure under all that gravy).

My only ding to the Posada's version is the gravy lacked enough black pepper, but there's a shaker on the table to solve that.

We craved that the other night and went over to Nuevo Posada only to be disappointed that they now close at 5:00pm.

Nuevo Posada not open for dinner? We will be in culture shock when we get there in Sept after a 6 year hiatus. A lot will have changed.

They told us they were not open for dinner any longer. Let's hope it's just for the slow season.

They started closing at 5 about two years ago, including during this past high season.

Paninos has chicken fried chicken on Tuesdays. They are fishing for a month now.

I usually eat dinner at 3 or 4 so not a problem for me.

The dinner hasn't been available for a long time.
