EL JARDIN de NINETTE Restaurant Review

Twelve of us from our Our Bi Monthly Dinner group dined at El Jardin de Ninette on Oct. 2. First to arrive was the bread, two separate types, one a foccaccia and another an Italian or French style crusty bread. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar was drizzled in the plates for dipping the bread. Next came the cold Mint drinks. If you order a second one, it’s $ 20. pesos. Next they took drink orders ranging from Margaritas to glasses of wine. One couple split a bottle of Beronia, a very good Spanish wine. $ 300. pesos. The Margaritas were 2 for 1 from 5 PM to 7 PM and everyone agreed they used good Tequila.

After sufficient time they took food orders. Three people ordered Calamari which arrived with a raspberry sauce on it. I ordered a Caesar Salad. It had lots of Garlic and Parmesan cheese on it. The lettuce was a bit wilty and should have been much crisper.

Two people ordered Filet Mignon, one had it with a red wine sauce and another with a different sauce. The Filets were huge and cooked to perfection. Three others ordered the Pork Chops. I don’t know what veggies came with the meal.

They have different kinds of shrimp dishes on the menu. I ordered the Shrimp wrapped in Prosciutto over seasonal vegetables. Apples and spinach were skewered on the wood skewer. There were 2 shrimp on 3 skewers for a total of 6 shrimp. The skewered Shrimp arrived over a bed of finely cut broccoli, carrots, zucchini, red and green peppers and red onions. One other person had Shrimp Tequila, another had Shrimp Thai style with green curry sauce. These dishes were presented with the veggies described above. Two others ordered the Scallops. The Scallops were over a bed of veggies as described above. Two others ordered Duck Tacos.

The owner came to different parts of our table to explain the Specials and answer questions on the menu items. The sevice was excellent and all food was hot and arrived at approx. the same time. Food was nicely presented. Prices and portions are reasonable. Everyone liked their meal very much and we will definitely return.
