EL JARDIN de NINETTE Restaurant Review

On Thursday night April 7, nine of us from our Bi Monthly Dinner group ate at El Jardin de Ninette restaurant. It was a special occasion as three people from our Community had birthdays on the same day. They start you off with their complimentary mint drink. Olive oil and Balsamic vinegar are poured into plates, then comes the fresh hot bread. The waiter took our drink orders. Some ordered wine, others ordered mixed drinks. You have a choice of house wine ($50. pesos) or brand name wine poured from the bottle ($60. pesos). A generous pour of wine. Oscar has an extensive wine list that is reasonably priced.

We ordered our food. Some of us ordered Black Bean soup, always on the menu. The soup of the day was Gazpacho. It was delicious served with finely cut avocado and carrot in the center. You can always count on Oscar for his wonderful, tasty soups. One person ordered Calamari served in a small amount of raspberry sauce. For our entrees, four of us ordered the Shrimp Kabobs with Prosciutto over seasonal veggies. Three skewers of shrimp, two on each skewer with spinach wrapped in prosciutto and an apple slice at the end. Two people ordered Sea Bass, two ordered Salmon, one ordered Lamb Tenderloin. The Lamb eater who knows his Lamb said it was excellent and perfectly cooked. Everyone loved their meals.

They had three specials: Beef Filet with Roquefort, Sea Bass with ginger and Shrimp Tequila.

We highly recommend El Jardin de Ninette. NINETTE is without a doubt one of the two "best" restaurants in Ajijic comparable to LAURENT. We have not eaten at Hole in One yet.
