Two people murdered in Chapala were found today July 20, 2012

Just found this on TOB: This afternoon around 2 pm, the police discovered the bodies of 2 people, murdered in Chapala.

I just heard it is Alma, who has a lot of Rental Properties here in Chapala for rent, and her husband. Her mother found them. How horrible. I understand they said they were killed on Monday.

Didn't I read that one of them was an American or Expat? Please correct me if I misread the article in Spanish.

Yes according to the Informador, one was a German national.

No John, Alma was a well known and respected business woman in Chapala. jeez

Is there any reason to think that this was cartel-related? The poor translation I read suggested they were found in their farm-house and I couldn't help but wonder if it might be a murder-suicide, which would still be tragic but not an indication of further troubles.

The papers say they were presumably attcked to be robbed. No mention of cartel suicide or any other motives.

The Occidental reports, perhaps erroneously, that both were Germans. The dwelling in which they were found is behind the Las Brisas de Chapala Hotel. They managed the development there that rents bungalows and had been beaten and stabbed and had been dead about five days. The place had apparently been ransacked.

Thanks for posting this, Simpsca. I saw it on TOB yesterday, but it disappeared.
Condolences to Alfred and Alma's friends and families.

I'd like to add my condolences to all concerned.

The following is only rumor. I have heard that it was an home invasion that went badly. They were beaten to death and placed in their car. The smell alerted the neighbors that things weren't right.
I also heard, again only rumor, that Alma's brother, who was in poor health, died yesterday after hearing of the tragedy.
If anyone is in a position to affirm or deny any of this please do so.

Alma was my landlady and I just now visited her mother and family.

Sorry to say that the details were scratchy at best due to my Spanish. However, a funeral service for all three (Alma, Alfred & Arturo) will be tonight at 9:00 near/at the funeral home on Lopez Cotilla.

Her son from Kansas is here and speaks perfect English. I will meet up with him and get the details.

Please express my sorrow for their losses to the family and keep us posted since TOB has removed the posting.

I can't believe that Chapala.com deleted the thread about the murders!!! That is ridiculous. It is in all the local newspapers - and fact, not rumor

But when the post was on Chapala.com someone did post that the picture looked like the Chapala Hacienda's Hotel. I went past it today, the the hotel is white - so that is not the building in the pictures.

And I, too, would like to offer my condolences to all concerned.

Home invasion gone wrong????? This is awful, and we all still need to be on guard. My condolences to the family. What a horrible turn of events.

She lived directly behind the hotel in a separate complex (almost like a motel) Her house and 3-4 separate rental 'bungalows' (as Alma called them). Although married, she lived their alone because her husband had built a new home out in the country somewhere and she didn't like the commute into Chapala from there everyday. He would come in from time to time to stay with her and had been trying to convince her to move to the new house.

We were good friends as well.

I can, and it is just another good reason to send a message to the Tingens.......Boycott Tangos and Coldwell Banker.....sooner or later they will get the message.....They need to take control of what is rapidly becoming a joke locally.

Thank you so much CB for having somewhere to learn the truth about what is going on. I read about this yesterday on TOB. We live in the Haciendas and I was livid that the FRAAC hadn't let us know about the murders. Then the whole thing was removed! GRRRR

But I knew were to look for the facts. And find out it didn't happen here after all. Thanks again

I think I know Alma, did she have a 2 story unit on a corner in Chapala that she rented? And a house down on Gonzalez Gallo? Is this the same Alma?

Aw, I just got confirmation that this is the woman I was thinking of. She was a sweetheart and didn't deserve this. Awful for the family.
