Yep, totally agree, this was a great idea and should be a good time - every time. Additionally, you never know what other ideas we might come up with after we get going. . .

Re: Restaurant Swarming
I'd really like to see this swarming deal work to the max. and with that in mind, some thoughts.
We're going to drag a couple of friends/neighbors with us each time. Easy to do and it will double our number.
Birthday's/anniversaries etc.. We really haven't celebrated them since moving lakeside but that has just changed. From now on we will invite our friends and impress upon them how much their attendance would enjoyed at the swarm. (And as a gift suggestion a fat tip for the wait person would be very much appreciated.)
Ordens para llevar: Hey, why not? You know you're going to want a late night snack or a nice meal the next day and it will really help the restaurants bottom line, so take something extra home.
Gift certificates? If just a few folks got a couple each time it would really add up.
Got company? The kids visiting, friends, relatives or countrymen? Well if you want to show your people some lakeside comradery be sure to post (brag) and expect a warm reception.
Cajole John into eating Mexican food.
If someone could post the swarm idea on TOB(s) maybe a leadership type would pick it up and run with it. Hopefully a friendly rivalry would happen to benefit the restaurants.
Future think: If we can get this sucker going articles in the local rags would heighten awareness and hopefully increase participation and maybe some new board members.
Well it's nap time, over and out.

Viva Mexico has filet minon - a very non- Mexican dish and delish for 90 pesos! So no excuse John!
I have friends who eat a Viva Mexico with me, order something different and get the Chilis en Nogado to go for the next day. Very few places do them as good as Augustin - in fact I don't know any other place lakeside.

Oh God, I really hate to be “the fly in the soup” it’s such a great idea, but there must be some thought given to over whelming a restaurant all at one time. Calling ahead is a must but perhaps a limited menu should also be considered. I know, let’s see how it works out first but this should be on the list of those things to think about.

I've had as many as 30 people at a dinner at Viva Mexico. It takes awhile for everyone to get served. But if he is expecting a crowd he can handle it. You have to be prepared to wait some time for your food.

Number Four, Gossips, Brunos and Roberto's all seem to be doing well without our help. How about if we lower them on our list of priorities. Not saying do not go there, but there are others, as we have noted, that need help more and more immediately. chico.

I like the hat idea. Pick a restaurent out of the hat. How do we know if they are doing well without our help.

Please add Lake Taco to that list, their business is way down too. Great place to eat, inexpensive, and now have an upstairs and full bar. Really nice guys too, Fernando and Carlos.

How about Yve's restaurant on waterfront in Ajijic, one block east of the pier. Telephone 766-3565.
Also Armando's Hideaway at Privada Ocampo #18, on the east side of Danza del Sol hotel. Telephone number 766-2229.

I don't think they would have any Lunch menu, but you can ask. If you want something special or a special menu put together Armando is very cooperative and is very nice person.
Went by Roberto's yesterday. He had his Comida China (Chinese) sign out.
My suggestion, but it's up to you folks, would be to have a limited menu so that the restaurant can accomodate all of you without going nuts. Maybe 5 or 6 items???

The reason their business is down is because they serve industrial burgers made with pre-formed, tasteless ground beef and that is a shame. No one wishes them more luck than did I as I live within a kilometer of this joint and wished them the best of luck but those crappy industrial burgers are disgusting. If rhey clean up their act they will own the town. As it stands now, they will never sell me another industrial burger.

Didn't think they had burgers. Who eats burgers there anyway? It's about the mahi mahi tacos, Bubba. I think you're thinking of a different place. . .

Re: Restaurant Swarming
Dawg..........wrong restaurant. You may be thinking of the place west of Ajijic
Lake Taco is behind the Pemex station in the mall containing Tio Sam's and a large Oxxo. It's next to a car wash and it's under a high palapa roof. Nice lake view. The food is fresh and delicious, but they never served burgers. They recently opened an upstairs where smoking is permitted, but banned it downstairs. Don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the formerly mobbed area downstairs isn't as busy just lately.

I think it's just that it's the slow time of year. Plus the recent issues and the fact that it's HOT and most are lying on the couch under fans in the afternoon. I know I am, are you?

You deserve that whine Gringal. What has happened on either side of you is pretty awful.
My recollection is that it is always very quiet around here between the time the snowbirds leave and school gets out and the Tapatios descend on us. I wouldn't expect a great "sunbird" season either.

Thanks for the sympathy, but I did delete the whine about the four months of pounding going on next door....off topic.
They have a long ways to go, too..........but just to have a little chuckle.....the guy building it didn't make any provision to cover the entry to the top floor...about a 4 X 6 foot opening: when confronted, he just shrugged. So now they're going even higher to make a rain covering thing. Curses.

Re: Restaurant Swarming
The first official swarming was a great success. We had about 17 or so members show up for lunch at Viva Mexico. As usual the food was outstanding. We will do the next swarm at Mario's next week. Stay tuned.

Well right now I am looking for someone who lives close to Mario's and knows his restaurant to tell me what the best day would be for him and then let him know to expect a group on that day.
Thanks to Simpsca for making all the arrangements at Viva Mexico. A job well done and appreciated.
