Restaurant Swarming

With business off for our local eateries and us locals only needing an excuse to eat out, how about we set aside a time and day each week to meet and eat at a selected restaurant? No biggie, just set up something like Wednesdays at whatever time at ____________ restaurant. Any interest?

We are doing the Wednesday Tianguis again in Ajijic. So if you wanted to bring everybody buy for samples and big discounts that would be great. LOL

We would love to come if it was after 2 pm or on another day.

I hear Gossips hasn't been selling enough oysters..........jaja.

I'm in. I was at Number Four on Sunday from 2pm to 4:30 and my friend and I were the only ones in the restaurant the whole time. I can't imagine what restaurants are going through these days.

Just had lunch at Viva Mexico. I have a womens group there once a month. There were 13 of us but only one other table of two. It doesn't matter to me where. Gossips is not very big - what do we do if a lot of us show up.

Are we looking at going to gringo restaurants or the smaller mexican restaurants also?

To us doesn't matter, just that they all should be considered.

I think Roof Bob should decide for us each week. Do I hear a second on that?

I am sure you know some places to go too.

Fortunately we have some time to decide on the restaurant. Looks like we have about a dozen big spenders so far. Let's see how this plays out and decide on Monday, and that way we can give the restaurant some notice.

I can tell you that some extra business would be very much appreciated by Mario's in SAT, esp in light of the recent happenings. A hug and kind word to them would be much appreciated too.

Sounds good Roof Bob. As a suggestion, let everybody put a suggestion of a restaurant in the hat and someone can pick it out. This way it is fair and we get to try different places that people like.

We're in too! Another good spot is Roberto's . They have a great Monday lunch special. Lots of choices ............only 50 pesos!! And the place is big enough to handle a large group! I believe their special is on for the month of June but the waiter tells us it will most likely continue throughout the summer season. And Roberto's is half way for the folks who live out in the west end.
I'm heading back to Canada to see my newborn grandson for a couple of weeks but would like to join when I return!

Just thought of another one...............Ajijic Haciendas Steak House has Thursday Steak specials all day. Any steak 99 pesos - and a nice big patio.

I'm in if the good lord is willing and the creek don't rise! I love the idea of putting places in a hat and picking. Or letting different people chose. I would toss Bruno's in the hat. Are we talking just lunch or would it be a dinner thing too? For those of us crazy gringa's that still go out after dark :)

Roberto's Monday lunches are excellent not just one or two choice but a
whole menu. Marios would be cool also.

Angelica's Bistro - Good Italian - closes at 4 PM

Robertos - closed Wednesday & Thursday - Lunch specials are small
Haciendas Steak House - 99 pesos Seafood on Wednesday - 99 pesos all Meat on Thursday - closed Monday
Brunos - Not sure if any specials - closed Tuesday
Gossip - Always crowded at Lunch
Number 4 - Extremely overpriced - Drinks overpriced - Food very inconsistent - open Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun

We need to pick one restaurant to start. Earlier we had a thread about going to Viva Mexico but somehow the thread fizzled out. Does anyone want to start with that one this Monday, June 11 at 2pm?

I can put the other restaurants on small folded papers and someone can pull them out of the container (or CBob's hat) for the next luncheon. And I'll add extras as those restaurants are recommended. Because I live in town I can make the reservation. And I can post each week where the lunch is (I don't go out to dinner because I can't see to drive:-)

Number Four is now open for lunch on Sat. and Sun. for lunch and Fri. plus Sat. evening for dinner - just FYI because their business is so off.

So if you want to start at Viva Mexico this coming Monday, June 11 at 2pm please post or PM me so I have an approximate head count. We can pull a restaurant name for the week after. I'll try to make a reservation, but may need your help with phone numbers. Right now Augustin of Viva Mexico has all his phones turned off because he is getting threats, but I live close enough to go by and make a reservation.

After conference with another member, it looks like Tuesday at Viva Mexico in San Juan Cosala is a better day - 2pm. Anyone who knows they want to attend can PM me and I'll make a reservation.
