Kidnapping and Robbery Bamboo
The manager of the Bamboo Restaurant was kidnapped and robbed on Saturday. His relatives were called for ransom. They explained they had no money. They all worked day to day for money. He was released safely on Sunday along the Hiway at Brisas de Chapala. This was told to me just now by my woker. It was his uncle. Their whole family is quite shook up. My worker used to work till 9 or 10 every night, now he is going home at 6. And he has his own vehicle. The uncle has NO involvement with drugs.

Not only do we have a drug war, but we have an infestation of Cholos. I wish the drug guys would run these punks out of town as they have done elsewhere.

From what I have heard. Most of the small drug dealers are gone. Gone. Along with most of the wanabees. Right now there is not much of any drug dealing going on.

So, we have a bunch of newbies who think they know what's going on here on the streets and in the hood? I don't think so.

I’ve noticed over time that you don’t seem to care for “Newbies”. Just because they’re new to this board doesn’t mean there new to Mexico. Give them a chance to express themselves and if their opinions are different from yours doesn’t necessarily make them wrong.

And what reliable source did you hear that from? I would hope for that to be true, but I'm sure the drug dealing is still going on. Where do you think the druggies are getting their drugs?

Re: Kidnapping and Robbery Bamboo
You dumb ass, i got this info from the people that have lived here with their families for 100's of years. If you can get your walker out and go out at night and have a look. There is nobody on the street anymore. Now this is from my worker guy who knows everybody. Just like every bodies gardener or maid. This guy has a big family and it is close. So they are concerned. If you didn't get it.
The druggies are gone. DEAD. Along with so many innocent people. Nobody has to prove anything to you.

Re: Kidnapping and Robbery Bamboo
The problem is that with no reliable source of information, we don't know if different types of crimes are related. The kidnapping above sounds similar to what happened to many merchants from Jocotopec to West Ajijic with businesses along the highway. I know of three businesses that were threatened with extortion - pay a monthly fee or else, and two of them closed and left the area, one moved the business and another just closed. Probably many more I haven't heard about.
My suspicion is that the guys involved in drugs and pretty rough thugs and are not afraid to get into some sideline businesses like kidnapping and extortion.

It's not that I don't care for newbies, I welcome them. This board is a conversation. In any conversation when an unknown person walks up and starts claiming to know "whats going on" I'm skeptical.

fastrak quote - "The druggies are gone. DEAD. Along with so many innocent people. Nobody has to prove anything to you."
DEAD, who says so, more rumours. I think you mean drug dealers, don't you? Yes, a few were killed to make way for the new cartel trying to take over.
Along with so many innocent people. Total rumour. We do not know the innocent from the guilty. Even parents don't know when their kids are dealing or using drugs.

Re: Kidnapping and Robbery Bamboo
Parker has a good point: Newbie to this or any other board does not necessarily mean Newbie to Mexico or even Newbie to Lakeside. For example, my immediate family is in the 5th consecutive decade of continuously living along the banks of Lago Chapala even though I have only recently had time to sign on to any webboard.
I also very much "get" David's reaction to postings by people who obviously have little depth of experience living here.
Some people never step through the Looking Glass, but those who do can never go back and nothing looks or sounds the same ever again.

I think you will see a lot more newbies since Lakesidecrime.com is closing and TOB just deleted their crime section and is deleting most info on crime or locking topics.

Re: Kidnapping and Robbery Bamboo
John the man who had these people kidnapped and killed said they were picked at random because he had to make his quota .
This is not a rumor I heard him say that to the tv cameras. He may have been lying but I would think that it is as close as you get to the truth. People were picked at random, the Procuradoria says they were not connected to the cartels so it narrows the possibilities that these people were not innocent. I believe most of them were.

I wasn't questioning that. I didn't know what post was being referred to.

Re: Kidnapping and Robbery Bamboo
I don't know what "glass bubble" Johninajijic is living in, or if he ever ventures beyond
BUT, this is what I know! I am married to a Mexican lady, live in the community, Have many Mexican friends. They are all scared because, in the Mexican family, there are many persons, and they have a source of info that this website is not in touch . I have lived here for over 12 yrs & what is happening is atrocious. There is & has been many murders Lakeside, that
never reaches the ears of the "Gringos". I posted two events today, that
Mexican persons witnessed, that ws not on this website, & probably not
written about in the "news".
To conclude that all or most of these people were "involved" makes me want to add - " a head in the sand, sees little"
