kidnapping?

A friend told me that a young girl had been kidnapped, the ransom paid and the outcome was bad. Any confirmations?

I haven't heard anything like that happening Lakeside, but will check around today.

None of the rumourmongers I know have heard anything like this.
Doesn't mean it isn't so....the best streetsweepers miss some trash.

I so hope it's just a rumor. It was supposed to have been the child of a couple well known in the community.

Kipissippi: Was it a misunderstanding? I ask because a day or so ago, visiting friends were told about the kidnapping/ransom paid/murder of a 13 year old girl.
The person relating the information was the father, a local business person, who had what he described as an urn containing the child's ashes. Chillingly sad, if true.

Damn.... she couldn't confirm it so I was hoping it was just a rumor. Was the business a restaurant?
