Kidnapping Ajijic Malecon
Apparently three young men, two of whom are sons of business owners lakeside, were kidnapped at gunpoint at 8pm on the Ajijic malecon in front of several witnesses. I really hope the authorities find these young guys. I just can't imagine what these families are going through right now. It sure seems like the security situation around lakeside is declining quite rapidly. How many kidnappings has this been over the last month?

Nobody knows anything about this? Or are we selling real estate on this board as well?

Re: Kidnapping Ajijic Malecon
I heard it from a friend yesterday.....but nobody seems to have details, except that they are supposedly the sons of local business people and that there were witnesses.
They aren't selling real estate on here, but since there's nothing official out yet......we're just repeating rumors we've heard and it's basically.........useless chatter among us.
That other board seems to be allowing the substantiated crime news these days, but pure rumor gets squashed.

I know for a fact that it's not a rumour. I walked by one of the restaurants who's son was involved. Mothers, aunts and abuella's sitting around a table crying -- a heart-wrenching scene. I wish we could help them somehow. I really hope they find these evil people.

Re: Kidnapping Ajijic Malecon
I went by the restaurant today too. It is not a rumor.
I have been asked to encourage people to support the family. To stop by and touch a shoulder, say some kind words, show support. I've been told it would mean a lot to them. They are devastated. The father and mother have been walking the streets looking for their son's body.
This is the first time anything like this has happened in San Antonio.
So, if you know Mario or the family, or have ever eaten in their restaurant you might like to stop by and offer them your support.
It's not likely there will be any official response on this matter.

How about turning this around and say that you had been the one kidnapped. Assuming that you had not been released by the kidnappers and that a ransom was still be negotiated - would you want a public forum such as this hashing over all of the details (either known ones or speculated ones)? When the former Mexico Presidential candidate Diego Fernandez de Cevallos was kidnapped, I remember some details of this event and it seems that Mexican Law Enforcement's hands are tied if the family doesn't ask or agree to have the kidnappers pursued.

Re: Kidnapping Ajijic Malecon
What is the name of the restaurant.....Please PM if not wanted to make public. It is very unusual for Cartel to kidnap without ransom demands.
Hopefully, facts will come out regarding this instance.......if this was failure to pay cartels protection money, what's next.....Manager of Multiva, Bancomer?

In less than an hour you made your second post above? Do you exopect innocent old fart Gringos on this board to know something? You didn't mention the restaurant either.
Lots of rumours at Lakeside until the facts get out by newspaper. Wait for the facts. Lakeside has more rumours and conjecture than facts and many times the so called facts are distorted.
Trailrunner - You mentioned Mario. Is that Mario from Mario's restaurant in San Antonio Tlayacapan?

Johniajijic, many kidnappings are not reported in the newspapers. This is not the US.

A Mexican friend confirmed to me that three young men were kidnapped in San Juan Cosala the other week. He owns a store in SJC and is concerned about his family. I asked if they were involved in drugs and he said no.

Re: Kidnapping Ajijic Malecon
Parents do not always know what their kids are up to but that does not change the fact that it is a tradgedy for the family . What a horror story, not knowing what has happened to a love one.
I seems that we hear more and more of kids being kidnapped and there is no announcment in the papers and many of them just disappear, no bodies are found. It is truly awful.

Re: Kidnapping Ajijic Malecon
An acquaintance of ours had their son, who was a friend of my son, abducted last September and has not been heard from since. He was in no way involved in the drug trade.
Years ago my late father in law was kidnapped and held for ransom. We were very fortunate that with the payment he was held for less than a week. Unless the family files a complaint the police are not involved and there is no "report" to be made. In the case of my FIL, which was pre-internet, the kidnapping was only known to people in the local area. The story of the 3 young men grabbed in Chapala in front of eyewitnesses quickly made the internet and the news spread beyond the immediate area..

Re: Kidnapping Ajijic Malecon
Solo, why are these young people, with no connection to crime or drugs, being kidnapped? They just disappear with no ransom demand? That sounds more like serial killing than kidnapping.
Re: Kidnapping Ajijic Malecon
Has anyone seen anything in a Mexican newspaper? Or has anyone talked to their gardener or maid? Gardener or maid is hardly reliable.
And how does anyone know that these people were not tied into drugs? Not even the parents know what their kids are doing and if they do, they won't admit it.
Nothing on crapola.com about it.

That's right John. Nothing is going on. You can go back to sleep now. Have you sold your house yet?

Nothing in the newspapers yet. I'll check with the Mexican that I know. Who's restaurant, no one answered that? How long have you lived here?

I read on lakesidecrime.com that it was the son of Mario, who owns the restaurant in San Antonio who was kidnapped. Don't know if there is another restaurant owner's son as well in ajijic.

Do you know Southbound? I wasn't addressing your post, so butt out. How long have you lived here oh so knowledgeable one? And I do know several "reliable" Mexicans EXCLUDING unreliable gardeners and maids, so I can check with them too.

Stop for just a moment and think. Do you know if a ransom has been demanded or not? The families may not divulge that information so no one other than they really knows. In the case of my son's friend, it was strictly a case on intimidation.
