Keep looking down your nose at those you call "newbies"! Just how many times is it going to take with you being caught making wrong assumptions before you will come down off the throne? Your attitude reminds me of Aspen, CO where one becomes a LOCAL the day after arrival. Certainly after ten years in Mexico, one would think you would have more of a clue but apparently that isn't to be since you don't like the country or the people. It is quite evident from all of your denials about the way things are that: 1) you cannot be bothered to read or digest the local news, 2) your vision of Mexico is your gated community and 3) your constant distortion of the facts is motivated by the fact that you are selling your house.

I guess that that trailer in Barstow is becoming more and more attractive since you have dropped the price once again!
CG I already sold the trailer but I do have a condo in Pacoima,CA if John is interested in a trade.

Barstow - Yuk!!!

Albuquerque - Yuk!!! Have many reasons I don't want to live there. Maybe you need to look around the US and see the better places to live in.

Southern States, Midwest and Southwestern States - Not for me!!!

Hey John........these smarties are just pulling your chain. They wouldn't live in Barstow or the likes, either.

On board "manners": Hah. If you think people don't read posts before they jump in with their personal prejudices..............how about real live conversations where nobody listens and just jumps in and "talks over" you?
As Canuckle said, civility goes right out the window. The board turns into a food fight

On the other hand, it gives some of these retired guys who have nothing else to do........an "outlet". There are organizations who try to keep teenagers off the street and outta trouble. How about some help for the elders?

I agree with you on some sort of outlet for the elders. Good grief for 2 days I've spent trying to defend myself over something I did not write and the article was ignored, as I was trying to point out the imperfections of the US food industry...that was ignored and it became an argument that I was comparing two different systems of food safety (The US and Mexico) and nothing was further than the truth. I tried to apologize to the Board for my language and temperament of trying to make people understand what the article meant and I get slammed for that. Apology not accepted by some of the people who need something to occupy their day besides a impersonal computer.

Sheesh, You can't win with some of the folks and I'm no longer going to try. And Susan decided to personally attack my wife for some reason. She wasn't involved...did not even know about what was going on. It's really disheartening and disgusting.

I think some sort of Elder Day Care would be appropriate for some of these people who sit around their computers all day trying to dish dirt out to others. Enough is enough!

Elder Day Care actually existed in my old home town: They either were dropped off or arrived on their own.
There were craft classes, board games and other amusements along with a big screen TV and a library; even language classes.
I know, I know.......it's called Lake Chapala Society around here.

Frankly, I don't think this particular gang would be helped. Too dang cantankerous.

Dr. Mike, you have to develop a thicker skin! Newbies are NOT newbies when judged only by the date of their joining a forum...that's a mistake that Johninajijic should be well aware of since he, himself, has metamorphosized a number of times on different forums.
Then, there are the posters who "read" but don't "comprehend"...and so much of the innuendo and nuances of the spoken language are lost in the written language.
I'd accept your apology...except I don't think you had anything to apologize for. Some people like pushing other people's buttons...ease up...go with the flow...I would hate to lose you from this board since I am learning from your discussions.
Paz!

Thank you, Ferret. That was really nice of you. You are correct I need to develop a thicker skin and go with the flow. That was the first time I had had an issue with a Poster and it took me quite by surprise. I thought what I had written about the US Food Production System was educational and correct. Where he and Brigette got the comparing US and Mexico Food Production System is beyond me, I mentioned it only in passing. I should have just ignored him and I will in the future. The lack of comprehension of some of the people was a surprise too, even when I tried to explain to them what I had said they didn't get it.

I used bad language , which is totally unusual for me , and that is mainly what I apologized for. There may be people who are disturbed by that, and I'm sorry.

Don't worry about losing me from the board as I plan on being there Feb. 19th - 24th to visit, then I move into one of oncesubtle's apartments March 1st while we look for housing. So I will be a resident of Chapala in the near future. I have to come back home and have both of my knees replaced probably in April, when I can walk I'll be back. My wife will visit as she can due to her job. So, we'll b e here.

Thanks again for your words of wisdom, your suggestions and your faith in me.

drmike wrote:Since we are no longer on the topic, I just have to weigh in on this discussion. The dirtiest food available is from the US not Mexico.

Brigette you may think the California food is so much better but it along with the rest of the US is full of crap. And people who mistakenly think that way are mistaken.

So our food is safer than Mexico's. You don't know what your talking about. At least in Mexico the beef is grass fed, for the most part, except where the food manufacturers have made in-roads. There are a lot of organic farmers in Mexico. You better look again, Brigitte. One can eat very healthily in Mexico if they choose they diets carefully.

So before you pooh pooh somebody making a statement about his experience, learn what you are talking about.

So much for "...that was ignored and it became an argument that I was comparing two different systems of food safety (The US and Mexico) and nothing was further than the truth."

I think you meant to say "from the truth", but I'd have to say it was closer to the truth than you think. Read your own posts.

I, too, am glad you're not leaving.

No need to name names, but some people seem to look for opportunities to go on full out attack mode, and whoever is on the other end of it tends to go ballistic and post an uncharacteristically hot tempered response. I don't know anyone who enjoys getting put down, so the temper is understandable. We all have our provocation limits. I suspect that some people actually enjoy looking for hot buttons and pushing them. IMO, that's a sorry way to amuse oneself.
You'll soon figure out who to get in a discussion (argument, fight) with and who it's best to pass on by without reaching out your hand. Chomp. That is, unless you get a kick out of a no holds barred battle. For that, you need a thick skin. Otherwise, just keep on keeping on.

Welcome to Chapala and I hope that surgery goes well.
cheers

Nevermind Pacoima. How about that heaven on earth settlement known as Quartsite, on the desert's edge? More or less off the grid. No space rent for the trailers, and once a year there's a huge gathering of rock hounds from everywhere.

I second that!

I appreciate your posts and find them very erudite and informational (for the most part).
lol!

It really is a crying shame that a couple of folks use the boards to attack personally other posters whom they consider to be their antagonists, rather than to use this forum to attempt truly to edify others. Fortunately, for the majority of us, those pathetic souls (whether "newbie" or "old fogey") are only a few -- and they know who they are. They are categorically nothing but psychopaths -- or at least sociopaths -- who derive pleasure from their misguided efforts to undermine others and their contributions.

Now I'm wondering how long it will take CanuckBob to move these last few comments to another thread, since they aren't really relevant to the main topic.

Hockables,

True enough. I was thinking of how at times the US and Canada banned each others beef (probably political rather than actually needing to do it) and the GMO wheat that is used extensively in Canada. I would never attack your beer. Back when I used to drink, I liked Molsens and other Canadian beers.

Ya make good beers.
