2 bodies found shot and wrapped in blankets
Don't worry it was only in Ixtlahuacan, a common thing there like breakins in Ajijic.

You would think that after a while they would kill each other off. There seem to always be more willing to join the ranks. Greed is powerful.

They are killing each other off and I hope they continue to do so. What do you think the high numbers of deaths the US press keeps stuffing in our faces is all about? It's not innocent people getting killed off, unless those so called innocent people are involved with drugs, either selling or buying.

Why scare off more visitors and ruin business here by posting this in Out on the Mirador.
Why post it at all, it doesn't affect us living here in paradise.

I meant off to the last one.
Some of the gang members of Ixtlahuacan live in Chapala and Ajijic, they do have an influence here in Ajijic. Three of them were arrested a month ago and they lived in beautiful Ajijic. The whole falimily lives here and no one works .
By the way it is a month later and they are all out again. Some partsof AJijic are not as nice as you would like to think.

There are two gangs in Ajijic that I have been told about by a reliable Mexican source. Neither of these gangs rival the LA gangs. They are just kids that hang together and play soccer together calling themselves a gang.
There are many, many, many gangs and gangbangers in Chapala. There are far more drugs and druggies in Chapala, San Juan Cosala and Joco.

The bad people in Chapala live far away from the good people, in Ajijic they are mixed in the village, making it a place you wouldn't want to walk at night.

Re: 2 bodies found shot and wrapped in blankets
I know of at least 3 gangs and they are probably more. They may not rival the gangs from LA but they will rob you and kill you just the same.
On top of the variousn gangs you have bad news kids and older men who get together to rob people.
They may play football but that does not make them innocent.
You should walk the village more rather than rely on your Mexican connections who tell you what you want to hear. These guys with half their bodies tatooed, shaved head and so on are not choir boys no matter what you are being told. Some of them just got back from LA and other wonderful NOB areas and they have learned a lot while there in jail.
Just walk part of Emiliano Zapata or the 6th corner area in the evening and open your eyes. As one good kid wo lives on Francisco Vila told me, this is the safest street in Ajijic at night as all the bad kids are out working the other streets.

Zat why the bad people have covered the entire town with gang graffiti?
BS.

These two bodies were discovered close to El Salto in La Capilla. Ixtlahuacan municipio covers a lot of territory. Much ado about noting once again.

Morning news said Ixtlahuacan and then showed SEMEFO but never gave other info. Sorry for watching the news.

Most of the wall's that are now covered with grafitti will soon be painted over with new election signs and slogans.

"beautiful ajijic"? most of it is filthy tenements slums. ignorance is bliss. intercasa is correct, the gang kids are mixed in. LA? you comparing? yes there are many gangs. but would you live in those area? most likely NO. but, ajjic? yes. why? because it is meeexxxico, it has a "cache". you dream you are in a chi chi resort. go figure. most of you would not know a gangster from a housepainter.

Re: 2 bodies found shot and wrapped in blankets
There are lots of great chi chi's in this resort we call Mexico I snuggle up to a couple of them every night. If your housepainter shows up with spray cans instead of brushes and rollers he might be a gangster. If ignorance is bliss you must be one very happy camper.susan wrote:"beautiful ajijic"? most of it is filthy tenements slums. ignorance is bliss. intercasa is correct, the gang kids are mixed in. Close enough that it isn't worth arguing over the difference. I've yet to drive down a street there that doesn't have some and many that have a lot.

Try Ninos Heroes or Zaragoza, to name two.

Re: 2 bodies found shot and wrapped in blankets
Wow, two whole streets. And I'll bet I'd have no trouble finding it there too. It's there, just go look.
What we all want to know is when are you all going to get off your duffs and clean that tagged over town up? Aren't you tired of being Lakeside's Sanctuary City for tagger scum?
Hell, the folks are even cleaning up San Juan Cosala. I'd be embarassed to have someone visit me in Chapala if I were unfortunate enough to have to live there. Much of it resembles the barrio in L.A. Sad, very sad.

Re: 2 bodies found shot and wrapped in blankets
I think the bigger question is: Aren't you tired of living in the most dangerous town lakeside? After all that's where the murders, strong arm robberies and the majority of all other crimes against norte Americanos are committed. Do you think trying to eradicate graffiti will stop or even slow the crime rate?

Re: 2 bodies found shot and wrapped in blankets
Well gollee, four armed guys just did a home invasion up your way today and stole a bunch of stuff, tied up the family and took three cars. Second one in, what, less than a week?
Now where have those out and out gun battles been? I think there's a nice assortment of bullet holes around Spencer's place, eh? How many drug murder there in the last couple of months? Four or more?
Too bad y'all aren't as diligent about cleaning up your tagged up town as you are about looking the other way. And you damn betcha graffiti is directly connected to crime. Try doing a little homework on the topic and get yer head out of the sand. With San Juan Cosala kicking off a cleanup, pretty soon y'all are going to be Lakeside's only Graffiti Ville.

"Well gollee, four armed guys just did a home invasion up your way today and stole a bunch of stuff, tied up the family and took three cars. Second one in, what, less than a week?"
That was Chapala Haciendas I believe, close to central Chapala in name only.
"Now where have those out and out gun battles been? I think there's a nice assortment of bullet holes around Spencer's place, eh? How many drug murder there in the last couple of months? Four or more?"
You mean the gun battle that started out your way and ended by Spencer's, that gun battle? On the murders, I don't know but unlike Ajijic there were no norte Americanos killed.
"Too bad y'all aren't as diligent about cleaning up your tagged up town as you are about looking the other way. And you damn betcha graffiti is directly connected to crime. Try doing a little homework on the topic and get yer head out of yer ass."
So who are you to say what I am diligent about or that I am looking the other way? Obviously you do not know what you are talking about. So with graffiti being connected to crime I guess Ajijic is now a safe place and Chapala is more dangerous? Hummmm, I'll have to think about that on my evening walk. And "get yer head out of yer ass." Really Maincoons, what's with all the anger?
O.k fearless, just the nice stuff from now on.

I believe that Mainecoons has been taking lessons in generalizations from John! Must be nice to be able to sit upon that high throne and look down upon the peasants!

Re: 2 bodies found shot and wrapped in blankets
Well having spent time in both towns, as well as SJC (El Limon) I must say I felt most secure after dark on the streets of central Chapala. Probably due to the increased activity and close presence of the Policia.......
On the other hand I enjoy Ajijic far more during the daylight hours with all the shops, galleries and restaurants.
I didn't like anything about SJC except for Viva Mexico and the Spa (sorry Simpsca).......

Re: 2 bodies found shot and wrapped in blankets
its all gross. you can live in a nice gated place etc. but still have to go to the commercial areas to shop. all this comparison to LA or wherever. but what are you comparing? one mexican gang to another? or a mexican group to an el salvadoran group. you all move to "get away from crime" but who IS committing those crimes in the USA? who exactly are these "gangs" you run from?? oh i forgot, swedish boys. we have to stop profiling.

Re: 2 bodies found shot and wrapped in blankets
Most expats on all forums sound like the Mexican Tourist Industry and Travel agencies, ta da ta da, Mexico is beautiful..enjoy, enjoy, it's safe, it's warm and the people are friendly and life is much safer than in most NOB cities.
Expats have to rationalize their decisions to live there and those maybe like John don't want to lose potential rental income and Mexico it's self wants the Yankee dollar and the Travel Agencies want customers.
It all makes for a lot heads in the sand or like some say up their arse.
