Re: Bodies Found
Thanks for the report. Where did you see this, doc holiday? TV, periodico, chisme. . .?
Guess that explains the sirens and reports of a shooting in Joco.

I heard the sirens and have a friend in the funeral parlor business. Bodies went to Ocatlan or Guad

Re: Bodies Found
Why is this not in the Crimes section — especially since at this point it is no more than a rumor?

Re: Bodies Found
I am gonna call BS on this one. The sirens around that time went to Jocotepec. I saw 8 trucks go by. 2 chapala marked white ones, 1 chapala marked blue and grey one, 1 white unmarked with siren in dash (MP or commandante), and 4 Jalisco state trucks. I saw them leave chapala. I was on the phone with my mom and about 10 minutes after they went by me (or less) they went by her. Others saw the same trucks going past west Ajijic, and into jocotepec.
IF bodies were found at WalMart on a Friday night at 8pm, we would be hearing more about it. That is a pretty busy area with the Centro Laguna across the street. Someone would have seen not only police but the forensics truck which usually shows up a good hour after bodies are discovered. There would have been something on Facebook or twitter, and I have seen nothing except this report here. I also have a good friend who is in the funeral business and nada.

Re: Bodies Found
Another call of BS.
Whatever happened, it was west SJC and not in the SAT Walmart parking lot.
That much is for sure, and I doubt the bodies would have been taken a funeral parlor until after the forensic people in Ocotlan were done with them.

Except for the chuckle I got when I saw your post and, for a moment, it read... "Bodies found... addtocart".

Re: Bodies Found
There is a small town just outside of Jocotepec infamous for cartel meth labs. Every time the police go there they have to bring reinforcements. They are lucky they didn't bring in their helicopter equipped with gatling guns..

They did that one Sunday 7 years ago as they hovered over my house in Joco. I moved to SA within a week.

Re: Bodies Found
They were, Pete. And from what I hear from my Mexican friends there still are scary times in Joco. Just because it doesn't make the papers or news surly doesn't mean it never happened. The cops firing into my neighbors from the helicopter like the video above never made the papers or news reports, but I can tell you it happened.
I never saw the narco banners on the plaza telling people to stay in but I had to go out for food and I hurried out in my car, got some food, and returned. When I was returning through the topes a big white truck with dark windows came towards me and as I passed it there was a kid in the back, about 16, by himself, sitting on an overturned bucket, with an AK47 upright between his thighs. He was watching who was in all the cars and we made eye contact. What I saw in his eyes made my blood cold.
Chillin', what are gaiting guns? I can tell you there was a terrible ferociously loud whine from the helicopter before it started firing down, loud and terrifying. The chopper pulled away and we could hear it leaving and the firing stopped then back it came and more of the fearsome whine and firing. They did it three times. My neighbor and I were in our closets talking on the phone.

Re: Bodies Found
I imagine the narcos prefer Joco as there are less "gringos" to interfere and a more manageable municipal police force?

Re: Bodies Found
The distribution channel from Michoacan to Guad and the ports on the west and east coast are critical to their businesses and must be secured at all times. Jocotepec is the gateway to the Ribera and one of the routes to Guadalajara from Michoacan through the south shore. Has nothing to do with gringos.
On Mother's Day when they blew up the 2 ATMs it took 4 hours for the Joco cops to respond - a distance of about 4 blocks. The day of the narco banners and the day I saw the sicario in the pickup the cops had left town completely.
The halcónes could easily be seen, and may still be, standing on both sides of the entrance to town by the plaza and at the crucero. They give these kids cell phones and they watch for certain vehicles and people and report back via their phones. It's easy to recruit these kids, they choose poor towns with little opportunity and promise them a glamorous life - chicks, cellphones, guns, cars, etc.
There is opportunity in Joco though, if one wants to work legitimately. they can always work in the berry fields. The pickers can move up to packing and supervising and have a secure job. Some choose the glamor, they probably don't live long.

Re: Bodies Found
News isn't reported because there aren't any reporters there and people in small towns aren't apt to call newspapers or other media, anywhere and become "testtigos". Besides, by the time reporters came from GDL it would be "old news" to the locals in the vicinity anyway. Then you have to sort fact from fiction which can be formidable in digesting pueblo chisme.
Policce, at any level in Mexico, unlike the US, almost never, report their activities to the media. GDL TV and radio stations have to be really motivated to send a crew an hour away for something that is almost a norm around the country related to the narco traffic. About the same degree of concern as traffic fatalities.
This is our world, ebb and flow, for the present and immediate future.

Back to the subject of those sirens heading west a few nights ago: Our staff from Joco report today the sirens were in response to 5 bodies of young men found in SJC along with discovery of one or more safe houses for storing drugs. The young men were reportedly known to be involved in the drug business.

That would tie in with the alleged local knowledge of 5 people that had been missing in SJC area for a short period time.
Also, the "alleged" local jefe of the plaza (who assumed the position after the old one died of natural causes) has also disappeared.

Re: Bodies Found
I believe it! The container was a plastic bag and the bodies were freshly killed chickens from Bodega Aurrera . Price, $39.90 per kg.
