Tabarka
Nice light dinner there last night.
We almost always order the same 3 items to share. Their seafood skewer of shrimp and monkfish which comes with nicely cooked potato wedges. Monkfish is sorely underutilized here, a fish the cooks up beautifully and which Julia Child called, poor man's lobster. A bowl of fire-roasted sweet red peppers. And the lightly battered berenjena (eggplant) drizzled with local honey and a hint of rosemary. Their eggplant preparation is as good as any we've had in Spain, and we've ordered it at dozens of tapas joints there. We ask for the berenjena to be served last and treat it as a dessert (though Spaniards do not).
The above with 1 house wine and 1 agua mineral came to just over 300p.
They usually have a Fish of The Day on weekends and we've had some outstanding pompano, parrot fish and small Pacific grouper (way better than FL grouper). You can get a full meal of either the monkfish or special fish which comes with your choice of 2 sides.

I qm glad to hear that they are still holding up David’s standards. We have been remiss in not going.

Tabarka has closed.
While it was better when David owned and ran it, it was still very good and a beautiful place to sit.
We'll miss it.

Re: Tabarka
I hear in the Neighborhood that an established local restaurant is going to move into the space as soon as remodeling is done...

Re: Tabarka
There hasn't been any "remodeling" and there isn't anyone moving into it anytime soon. Los Compadres/Cocktail Bar were considering a higher end steak house there, but that deal fell through. They want too much for a lease. Los Compadres is installing a grill and will be doing quality steaks at their current location.
