TABARKA REBORN
Just had lunch at Tabarka. I was concerned for awhile since things were just not very well organized, but today the help was well trained and the food was as it should be. My spouse and I had swordfish with ratatouille and potatoes. First, they brought fresh bread with an even better garlic mayo. I'm pretty sure they make their own because it's just about irresistible. I had to pack up some of the potatoes in my plastic take home container, since we pigged out a bit on the bread. Then, they brought a potato based treat "on the house." The swordfish portions were large and perfectly prepared, as were the sides.
The bill: $300 pesos for both of our meals, including an iced tea.
At this point, they deserve some extra kudos. They've moved, survived the glitches, and are back on my list of favorites.

No. Still same newer place near LCS. Things just haven't been up to what they were at the old place in west Ajijic. Now it's like it was before...or maybe I'm just really picky.

No, you're not picky, I felt the same way. Haven't been in awhile because of that. It's always better when David is there, but when he's not . . .
Glad to hear it's back up to speed.

Spouse and I had lunch at Tabarka yesterday. The good Italian cook was on board and ravioli was back. They brought their good garlic mayo and fresh bread right away I had the ravioli stuffed with spinach and a salad combo. Yum. It was floating in a butter sauce. My husband had the swordfish with green sauce. Also very pleased. There are some new waitresses who are paying attention to the customers. Saturday is a good day to go there since they are well stocked for the weekend.

Re: TABARKA REBORN
Update:
Does anyone know what the current status of Tabarka is? Couple of weeks ago, we asked one of the waiters where David was. Answer: he's in Spain.
This morning, a friend passed on a rumor that he and his family had moved to Spain. The restaurant was open and looking busy this last weekend.
Anyone have the status?

Re: TABARKA REBORN
David told me about a year ago that he and the family were going to move back to Spain. I tried to talk him out of it and had hoped he'd change his mind but he was adamant.
He's been here a long time, think he said 28 years, and he was ready to leave. Personal reasons.
The Italian cook, is he tall and his wife runs Taco Frida across from SL? I suspect they own both places now.

David definitely moved back to Spain some time ago. Don't know who the present owners are as I don't patronize the establishment.
