NEW LOCATION: TABARKA
The new Tabarka is in the first block of Ramon Corona (changes from Marcos Castellanos at the corner) north of Lake Chapala Society.
We just had lunch there and the garden setting is lush and lovely. There is more seating than at the former location. I had monkfish and my spouse had the swordfish, both delicious. The usual basket of French bread with garlic mayo came first, and is addictive. David arrived and described the new breakfast offerings starting next Tuesday at 8 am. They have an attractive tasting menu worth trying. A real keeper at a better location, IMO. Fish lovers heaven!
Closed Mondays.

I suspect he will do way better in this new location once the word gets out. Pasta Trenta, Cocinart and Just Chilling are booming. A great addition to the hood......

That's great! Can't wait to go. Happy for David.
Gringal, what are the new breakfast items?

I didn't exactly get the specifics, but something about a egg dish in a clay pot among other tasty sounding accompaniments, and different juices every day. I know I'm game for anything coming out of his kitchen....so I'll be trying it next week and report.

Yeah, in my opinion David can do no wrong.

One of the things he's doing right: The new breakfast, beginning at 8 am. Four of us went to Tabarka for a fairly early lunch yesterday, and one decided to try the clay pot breakfast. Basically, it starts with two eggs, covered with your choice of toppings including meats, followed by cheese. My friend kept making "yum" sounds and loved it. Comes with bollilo, juice and coffee or tea. $80pesos.
The rest of us: one had mahi mahi and said it was the "real thing". Another had monkfish. Happy with it. I had shrimp with a choice of sauces and selected tangerine. The shrimp was very fresh and the tangerine sauce...delicious.
They have specials advertised in the front doorway, one of which is 6 tapas for 100 pesos. Next time, I'll go for that or try one of the chicken dishes.
His former westside location was nice, but this one is improved in every way.

Since it's been a long while maybe we should have a swarm there to give him a nice boost?

Good idea, Bob. There's plenty of room now.
I think everyone agrees that David is one of the good guys, and he's had a tough time of it. Since I moved to Ajijic nine years ago, he's had three locations. His fish is always the freshest he can find and the preparation is done with great care.

He also had a location in Providencia in Guadalajara before and during his time on the carretera in Rancho del Oro.

Re: NEW LOCATION: TABARKA
We had lunch there today and tried his pork 'chops' and chicken. The 'chop'was a very large chunk of tender, lean, well, seasoned grilled pork. No bone. My chicken was very tender and moist. Both dishes were outstanding......so for those who aren't in the mood for fish; these are two great alternatives.
I like his new location: a very peaceful and lovely garden setting. He even has a fancy chicken roaming about, hoping....
