TABARKA - NEW LUNCH MENU
I had lunch with friends at Tabarka yesterday; all of us were happy with our meals. They are a tad pricey, though. We were chatting with the waiter afterwards and he told us that there will be an ad in the Reporter announcing a new 60 peso lunch menu starting Monday next. It includes soup.
One good thing about the slow season: it brings out the less expensive lunch menus.
Update May 9: There was no such announcement in the Reporter: only an ad for the Mothers' Day meal.
So, who knows?

I like Tabarka, but find it a bit pricey. Last time there I had the seafood paella, pretty price at 190 pesos. The rice was delicious, but there were minimal shrimp, calamari, etc for the price. I have never had paella before, so I am no judge. Anybody had paella at Tabarka and has had it in other places? How does Tabarka compare? They advertise their paella as being the best in Mexico. Is it? Zoey

Plaza Rancho del Oro. On the mountainside in West Ajijic, just past Villa Nova. I know you have just been here for a short time, so I do not know what landmarks that you know. They specialize in mediterranean style seafood and the restaurant in Ajijic is a satellite of their main restuarant in GDl . 766-1588. CB, please keep me pm'ed on your progress to purchase a home and thanks to you for your thanks to me for being helpful. Zoey

Tabarka has the best variety of fresh fish on any menu in town, and they'll fix it any way you want. NOT expensive @ 80-120 pesos depending on your selection. It's a good place.

Re: TABARKA - NEW LUNCH MENU
IMO, Tabarka's paella could not be the best in Mexico if it's the worst I've ever had.
Costco's is better.
However, their fishes is delicious. The sauces are outstanding and unusual.
And yes, their are offering a lesser price lunch menu now.

Can you give me a landmark? I ate at this restaurant last year and loved it, but driving west from Ajijic the other day I did not spot it. Thanks, Dee

It's in Plaza Rancho del Oro. The cross street is Rio Bravo. Look for the Danza del Sol hotel sign above the hwy.
