Moving

I have received several e-mails and PM's asking about the for sale sign on the front of our house. Yes, we are trying to sell it with plans to move back to Canada. We have itchy feet and looking for a new adventure. Our plan is to move to the southern Okanagan part of BC to a town called Penticton. This is where we were going to go if we didn't settle on Mexico. It's been a blast but time to go. I'll keep running the board until I don't want to anymore then look for someone to take it over. It can basically run on its own anyhow. If we don't sell our house then we will just stay put.

I used to pick fruit in Cawston, in the Similkameen Valley, just below the Okanagan. Have friends there. When I lived in Canada, I lived on Vancouver Island. If I ever move back, I would move to the Similkameen- I love it there and the fresh fruit and veggies are a big bonus.

Don't visit in winter. Thar's snow in that thar location.

If Canada ever decides to let USA citizens immigrate there we have found a condo in Victoria that is perfect for us. It look over James Bay. We can deal with the winters better than we can Texas summers.

That would be a good move for you and your family. Low crime, no earthquakes, no tornadoes, no drought, lots of splendid fruits and vegetables. I have always been partial to Naramata. A strong arts community there.

Is your wife selling her business as well?

Yes she will. Houses can take a while to sell here so we won't worry about it until it does sell.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who considers yours and your wife's departure a loss to the community there. I hope all goes well in the move back north.

We moved back to the USA in 2014, after 13 years in Chapala, and we still aren't happy! Covid isn't helping, and we may simply run out of time.

News from a buddy (snowbird) from Penticton who travels Lakeside every winter!

"Evacuation Alert ... Yesterday while we were swimming in Shaha Lake we watched wave after wave of water bombers attack a fire about 10 kms southeast of our home. By 9:30 pm it was at the doorstep of Penticton and we got an evacuation alert to gather basic possessions and prepare to leave home. We spent a fitful night in our home and today plan to be ready incase we need to leave. I have attached a few pictures of the fire, a few are my own, but some are from FB friends who saw the fire from a different perspective."
