Local landlines

It was my understanding that all local landlines must now include the area code to be dialed properly and get through. Many newcomers may not know this.
Not sure if there is a cut off for when that is supposed to be permanent???
But, if it does become permanent, you may want to stick 376 in front of many of those phone numbers.

I know and it's weird and WE know that if dialing just the seven digits doesn't work, we try again with the 376 in front of it.

My query is whether adding the 376 does any harm? Or do some numbers NOT work when you add it.

As you can imagine, I make a lot of phone calls (outside of pandemic hours). Every so often I have to add the 376 even to a 766 number. And other times, the reverse is true. I chalk it up to the usual stunning technical capabilities of TelMex.

I have all 10 digits on all the numbers I have in Mexico, anywhere and everywhere, on my contact list on my IPhone. That´s 376, or anything else, never a problem.  If someone calls me, I just phone back to whatever number they left on the call notification.

Now it is true that it's use is required when dialing from a cell phone.

I only have one system, that´s why it doesn´t bother me.  Don´t want to learn anything else.
