local stuff
We arrived an hour ago for our visit here at Lakeside and will get in touch with some of you in the next day or so to hook up for a meal or drink or both. Right now I would appreciate some info on restaurants in my area - we need a breakfast restaurant and then general eating. Also any food stores close by. We plan to go exploring the nearby streets tomorrow. Oh yea where is Tacos de Ossa located? We are located just around the corner from Donna's Donuts so any suggestions for eats close by (we have no car) would be very much appreciated.

Re: local stuff
You have a large selection of places along the carretera.
Depends on what you are looking for and how far you want to walk.
Gossips, Salvadors, Brunos. donas donuts is like Timmy's, but if you want a bigger breakfast there a plenty to choose from.

Re: local stuff
If you want to meet a bunch of the board members we are having a lunch tomorrow at Giovanni's at 1:00pm. Giovanni's is in west Ajijic on the north side of the caraterra. It's about 1 km west of where you are. You can either walk to it or jump on the bus.

Thanks for the invited.

Re: local stuff
Rustica is good for breakfast. Limited selection, but inexpensive, good service and good food. I love the French toast (25 pesos) and hash browns (10 pesos). It's on the north/mountain side of the Carretera, west of where you are. Look for a building with a triple brick arch on top.

Giovanni's

- could you give me a little more detail or landmarks or cross streets for Giovanni's? In speaking to someone else they thought it was a fair bit further then 1km. We hope to walk it so a land mark or two would help us out.

Re: local stuff
I think it's more like a couple of clicks. Go west from where you are, past two lights, up the hill, and down the hill. Past maybe three or four strip malls. You will eventually see a CASA DEL WAFFLES on your right side... keep going. Giovanni's is in the last strip mall to the west.

Re: local stuff
Giovanni's is in Rancho del Oro. It is almost exactly on the carretera (highway/main road) and Calle Rio Bravo, on the mountain side of the road, in a little strip of shops accessed on a lateral. There is a giant sign for "Tabarka" there, a restaurant that just moved from the same strip of shops down toward the lake. There is also a large, green, permanent sign above the highway indicating that here is where you turn for Hotel Danza del Sol.
This spot is just past the neighborhood called Villa Nova, also on the mountain side of the road.
If you reach La Huerta Plaza or the cemetery (Panteon), you've gone too far.

Re: local stuff
Hahaha. Thanks for the laugh (and making me notice I spelled the word incorrectly about seven different ways. Not easy with only eight letters.)

Re: local stuff
Follow Rosa Venus's directions with one exception.
The lateral that Giovannis is on starts at Rio Mazas.
If you reach Rio Brava and the Tabarkas sign, you have gone too far.
When you enter the lateral, there is a hardware store. Giovanni's is just past it.

Thanks Slainte, you just ruined it for me...
I always thought that Donas Donuts was a cute way of saying Doughnuts Doughnuts.. just like Pizza Pizza in Canada.
Another myth exploded

Not if you live in the past like me... but you're right, not fair to someone asking directions.slainte39 wrote:Since everybody is correcting everybody...here are my corrections.

For cuteness, you could say "I'm done doin' Donna's donas/donuts daily".....fattening.
