Anyone know anything about the slaughter of the Morman women and kids?

One LDS site on the internet said Mormon is a “nickname” for them. When I worked in the late 80s for a faith based interfaith social services agency the people from LDS referred to themselves as Mormons. Now, it is a pejorative?

Maybe not "pejorative" but it takes away from the focus on Christ. But I can't think of a good nickname for the Church or it's members that everybody would be happy with. Maybe something will filter around the world and eventually become popular.

Around the world? Such aggrandizement. You do know, don't you, that Christianity in all it's many flavours is experiencing a rapid decline in adherents? What the sword giveth, the internet taketh away. Oh, I just realized how your avatar is almost a perfect metaphor for Christianity.

I doubt that the name "Mormon" will ever go away. I guess "Latter-day Saint" is the name to call the members now.

They should insert into the already very long name...The Church of Jesus Christ Who Came to America, of Latter Day Saints, as that is their belief.  

Well, he did say that he went to visit his other sheep between his resurrection and ascension. Who's to say where those other sheep lived.

If I know any Mormons I don’t know it so I really do not care what they call themselves. I do not ask anyone what their religion is because I do not care. Religion thankfully plays a zero part in my life.

My only interest here is how and why the numbers keep dropping in the USA (somewhat against expectation) and the rest of the well educated western democracies. The ignorant will follow whoever speaks loudest and whoever speaks last.

Hola amigos. As a newbie here I am not trusted to post links so I will tell you about a way to enlighten yourself about the history of the LeBarons and the cartels. The Vice video on youtube is from 2012 and was a bit of a hit piece on Mitt Romney I'd say. Not me, as I wasn´t around back then.  I just said it should be included in the name.

Sadly, there is always a reason, even if it is just for the fun of it or sport, and there could be another 100 contrived "reasons", including people earning money for their "work".
If you are looking for justified homicide, you probably aren´t going to find it.

Very interesting, thanks CB. I've driven through these colonias, years ago, and seen them at a distance and wondered about them.

I wonder a couple of things, though - how have the Le Barons made their livings all these decades? And very prosperous looking livings as well. That's a lot of mouths to feed.

And, how have the Colonias Mennonitas stayed so safe - if they even are?

For me it certainly rules out the "mistaken identity" theory that the Feds are claiming. These guys are at war with the cartel. It is a wonder where they get their money from. Farming doesn't seem to be very profitable down here.

When I was selling RE IN Mazatlan, one time we had a client that lived in an upscale, gated community in a very large la-ti-da house and I was making small talk with him. So I asked what he did.....he said he was a rancher.....so I (stupidly) asked what he raised....he said "stuff".....no more questions from me. My partner at the time was turning white and almost choking! Lesson learned!

Yes, I suspect these colonies control the passage way needed to transport "stuff" to the US border. Watch the video and you will see my point. I believe these senseless killings made sense to someone.
