The Church in Salt Lake disallowed polygamy in the 1890s. The "sources" you cite are about sects that are NOT part of the official Church even though they are called Mormons by others, certainly not themselves. They don't associate themselves with the Church because they feel the Church is wrong about disallowing polygamy and they believe in the active living of the doctrine.

Ervil went off the deep end and killed or had killed many members of his family. He was not a righteous leader even in the eyes of members of his church. He is an aberration within the LeBaron family.

I still can't believe they were the target. Why would "whoever" target women, children and babies? It makes no sense. Whoever did it will be the villains to....EVERYONE from this point on. There is no honor in slaughtering the innocent. It was either a mistake or an act of insanity.

The cartels have a vendetta against the LeBarons because they have stood up to the cartels, even with guns. The cartels are vicious and don't care if it children or women they kill. They are sending a message.

The cartels kill women and chldren to send a message to the people who survive.. They are ruthless
They were 8 people remember the 43 in Guerrero and the thousands others who have been killed over the years.
Kip that is not the worse that has been done, just  because they are Americans  does not make it worse than all the other horrors that the cartels have commited.. Those mormons are at war with the cartels ..that does not justify anything but you have to keep it in perspective.
It is just another horror in the list of thousands...

Trump should worry about all the weapons that are sold to Mexicans and cartels instead of opening his big mouth to the President of Mexico.

What happened to these people is horrible and sad but not different from what happened to the poor woman who was on a bus when the cartels set it on fire in Guadalajara, killng the baby and eventually killng her after numerous surgeries..

Sounds as though they are a cult, not Mormons. I agree with Brigitte that what happened is horrible but no different from what has happened to so many others in Mexico. Just because they are white does not make the crime against them worse.

I call these people mormons because that is what the paper calls them. The Church of the Latter Saints has outlawed polygamy and these people are polygamists and therefore if mormons are excomunicated so it is like calling a Protestant "Catholic" but in the whole picture they stemmed from the same chuch or belief and than separated...not that mportant in that story
