Maria Isabella on the Ajijic malecon has a happy hour from 3 to 6 on margaritas and cervezas.

The seafood places out towards San Juan Cosala have happy hours, I believe they start at 3pm and run until about 7pm during the week, but not on weekends when they are super busy. La Mesa has 2 x 1 wine on Wednesdays, they are open late and have a fire pit they can light at night. Nice environment at La Mesa. Are you looking for a party crowd? Just Chillin' has closed and is the only place I knew of that was hopping at night. There is a place called Mama's Bar in San Antonio Tlay. that has karaoke night and cheap drinks, but they keep hours like a retirement home, so drink up by 9pm. Oh, Adelita's has live music and dancing during the week. Hope this helps.

Do they have happy hour, and doesn't everyone there smoke like a chimney?

Stopped in there once with friends after some event in town - almost the only place in town to get a drink after 9pm - and nearly needed a gas mask, so ended up at Merendero's drinking something that tasted like Lambrusco, which I hadn't tasted since I was 29 and in Rome, where I iced the wine in a plastic chamber pot in a cheap pensione.

Yeah it's kind of like every bar NOB 20 years ago. Not a lot of wine drinkers there.

One can always get a drink at Four or El Barco after 9.

Most, if not all, of the outside food "puestos" that are open late do not have liquor permits to serve, of any kind.

That all depends on what you need to not be bored.

There is enough to do here for most lifestyles. There is a ton of restaurants with outdoor patio's where you can get a drink. If you are into late night partying you have El Barco, El Cameleon, Johnnie Mama's, Adelitas or The Iron Horse. While none of them compare to the clubs in PV they certainly get the job done. As for day to day activities there is easily as much to do here as in PV (other than laying on the beach) and Guadalajara is only 45 minutes away if you really want to ramp things up.

As for meeting people it depends on the type you want to meet. It's a completely different crowd that hang at the LCS versus the bars I mentioned above and then everyone in between.
