New Year's Eve at La Mision
La Mision is hosting a New Year's Eve celebration that features a two hour open bar, specials and live entertainment until 1 am. How cool is that? This is a beautiful and elegant restaurant with a wonderful staff and great service. Here is a link to their facebook page so you can make reservations. Seating is limited. https://www.facebook.com/lamisionajijic

I love these debates over restaurants at Lakeside. Virtually everyone knows highly rated today, tomorrow out of biz! Look @ #4.......high priced, good quality.....gone.

So Ivan the food is usually really good, however skimpy on the taters. Most choke on the bill.

You can also check out what Chef David from Tabarka has to say about La Mision on a thread on TOB (New head chef at La Mision).WDBarr wrote: if you want to read a review of La Mision, visit http://lakechapalarestaurantguide.blogspot.mx/2014/10/la-mision.html

A group of us did eat there a few weeks after they opened. We were underwhelmed.
But the best is: On that very blogspot, there was a review of CocinArt in which it was said that they couldn't bring themselves to even name the neighboring businesses out of embarrassment. As those of us who've seen the signs know, they are: "Kiss My Glass" and "Wilde's Dildoria". Chuckle of the day.

WDBarr, I am getting confused. Is the Lake Chapala Restaurant Guide your blog? Or are you just referring readers of this thread to it for more information?

Here's a quote;
"And inspite of vowing to put aside my anti-sex shop bias I couldn't help but wonder if the men wandering in from the street to use the semi-private bathroom had just come from the corner shop of salaciousness".

Re: New Year's Eve at La Mision
THAT was in a restaurant review?
Geez. Wonder often what men might be doing in a bathroom? I never do.
Also, just what is a "semi-private" bathroom?

Re: New Year's Eve at La Mision
#4 was very good, but very expensive. Have not eaten at the new 4 Restaurant. Is it a new restaurant that kept the old name, or the same restaurant but reorganized? We like La Mision and thought the 2 hour open bar was unique and staying open until 1:00am ( as if anyone around here can stay up that late) was also different from most places. That is all. Last year we could not find a place open after 11:00pm.

Yes telling people go to the restaurant next to the Dildo shop is a strain for some folks but the owners of these small businesses are doing the right thing and creating a small retail mall and I wish them the best of luck. Go check it out you don't have to go into the Dildo shop but I would. The glass shop is wonderful. Have not eaten at the restaurant but will after they stop being new. They opened a new door to the street and I like what they have done with the half block next to Colon. I find the business owners to be very nice. Well maybe one is a little weird but I like weird laughoutloud.

I have been hearing about the dildoria for a long time now. Even some more conservative folks say it is a hoot. There are more things than the aforementioned namesakes. I intend to go there one of these days, maybe a field trip to include Kiss My Glass and lunch at the little place with the "semi-private" bathroom. When I do, I will report back.

I'm think about "semi-private" and the possibilities, to wit:
1) Only three walls on the enclosures
2) Low enough walls that tall people can peek over them
3) Bathrooms available for the use of the adjacent store.
I'm guessing #3, even though the other two are a more titillating concept.
I'm waiting for your report with "baited" breath, Lady O.L.

Okay, I will get on it and see what I can see.
I too guess your number 3 is the most likely though least titillating.

I am sure you mean "bated breath" which means holding your breath, and not baited, which is what you do to your fishing line. Don't any of you use the restroom when you go to CocinArt? IF you did, you would understand what semi-private means in this context.

Re: New Year's Eve at La Mision
WD, why would you assume people who read reviews have been to the place? Isn't a primary function of reviews to share an experience with people who have not been there? A restaurant reviewer should not be speaking in a code only those who have been to the restaurant will understand.
I would never use a term like "semi-private" about a bathroom without explaining what I meant. Since a semi-private hospital room is a room shared with another person, our guess is that the restaurant bathroom is shared by other businesses. But, why leave people guessing?
(Gringal, I understand the use of quotes and knew what you meant. Thanks for the chuckle.)

Glad you had the chuckle, Lady O.L.. but I figure you not only are not humor impaired, you can spell, too.
Here's to "sharing"; even bathrooms. We all gotta go sometime.
