No, I don't think I could get used to something like that.

Yes I know what you were referring to. I was referring to not getting used to a justice system that is basically a joke when it comes to a murder sentence, that's all.

In addition, in 1999, Melba Wasey and her long-time partner Bob, both elderly, were killed in their village home, just around the corner from the Lake Chapala Society. In 2000, another couple, the Prices, were killed in their home in upper AjijicSmartalex wrote:slainte39 wrote:CanuckBob wrote:Sticking to the original OP.........Another (maybe rumor) I heard is that the homeowner had recently complained about the treatment of some animals by two construction workers at a job next door. Apparently those two workers were fired from their job. I post this because, if true, I hope the investigators will hear the same thing and follow up with this lead. I understand that the MP reads these forums to gain as much insight as possible.
It widens the range of motives from purely robbery...all leads, such as this, should be followed up on, even if they wind up being dead ends....it's just good police work.
Anyone remember Alan Turnipseed, who was murdered in San Antonio about three or four years ago? The former police chief (Contreras) admitted at a public meeting that the police knew who to search for due to the chatter they read on the expat forums at the time...and they found him. So keep up the good work in this case.

Anywhere in the world, there is a "free press" (not censored), there is bound to be some inaccuracies and bias.
Better that, than no news at all Mr. MC.

Re: Double murder robbery in La Floresta?
This has been shocking and very sad. I'm very glad they have people in custody and hope they are dealt with properly, but also happy that we have a very quick resolution and explanation. Yes, there are crimes here and even murders. However, I keep an RSS feed from my hometown newspaper, and am constantly amazed at the DAILY report of murders and other violent crimes there (Kansas City). So this area is still incredibly safe by comparison.

Re: Double murder robbery in La Floresta?
Mr. Coons, the reason you get to read here the substantive reports that you applaud is because this board allows the rambling and speculation that is part of human beings talking together. This board does not attempt to contain and control. The administration tolerates the rambling because, sooner or later (usually), solid, helpful information comes forth. That is why we are all here getting information.
The latest thread on TOB which is still (at this time) open offers a nice plug for this board:
"You need to register with them to see the crime reports. Thank you inside lakeside.com for allowing us to follow this horrible story."
I second that: Thank you, Inside Lakeside.

Kansas City is a big place with a years-long bad rep. Not a small town populated mostly with peaceful people living out their "golden" years. I don't see how you can compare the two.hkrause wrote:This has been shocking and very sad. Re: Double murder robbery in La Floresta?
IMHO, we need to be cautious about believing that the actual perpetrators are in custody. In many high-profile cases like this one (it was all over the front page of the Toronto Globe and Mail by last evening), alleged perpetrators turn out not to have been the actual perpetrators, even though the alleged perpetrators end up serving prison time.

Re: Double murder robbery in La Floresta?
Well it sounds to me like they got the right people, but if this incident and other recent burglaries make us all a bit more cautious than we have been previously, that would be a good thing.

I don't think so....foreign retirees are a small pct. of the population.
I'm sure the number of homocides in the greater Kansas City area far exceeds the homocides of north shore lake Chapala.

A whole thread about the murders just disappeared from c.com. But I don't think any of us will be sending David Tingen a P.M. About that cuz we don't give a shit.

Thank heavens they caught those b***ards, shameful and disgusting people they are! Relative to the other board, it's been well reported that the owners are in the real estate business and censorship is rampant relative to bad news about Ajijic.

Re: Double murder robbery in La Floresta?
Of course it does. According to the US Census, the population of Kansas City in 2010 was 2,853,116. And Ajijic is . . . ? And if you are only going to count the retirees, the disparity in your comparison becomes even larger.slainte39 wrote:addtocart wrote:Kansas City is a big place with a years-long bad rep. Re: Double murder robbery in La Floresta?
I as well commend our Chapala Police Department for a job well done. We all want to believe that they have arrested those responsible for this horrific crime. I suggest we stop comparing the safety of here to wherever we came from . Little does it matter - this was a crime that has instilled terror amongst all of us and we owe it to this community and ourselves to make noise about it with the officials here.
Just sayin...........

Have you noticed the police helicopter flying back and forth along the lake? We can see it from our backdoor. Seems like they are still looking for somebody.

They have been flying around all morning. It might have something to do with the two Oxxo's that got robbed this morning or who knows what else.
