Double pay over Easter.
My gardener informed me today that if he works Thursday the 18th this week he has to be paid double time. I told him not to work. I thought Good Friday and Easter Monday were the only double time days. What is correct?

Nope. He can take the day off but it’s not one of those (actually triple pay holidays if they work but double check that.)

Re: Double pay over Easter.
These are religious holidays and not government ordained official holidays that have lawful holiday pay regulations.
Anything you do with your employees is voluntary and not obligatory. Legally, you can just pay him his normal daily nómina.

Re: Double pay over Easter.
Slainte, you know much more about this than I. But when I did a search for Mexican National holidays for this year, they showed Maunday (Thursday) and good Friday as national holidays. I know the banks are closed on these two days.
I went to another Webpage and it showed
•January 1st – New Year’s Day
•February 5th – Constitution Day
•March 21st – Benito Juárez’s Birthday
•May 1st – Labor Day
•September 16th – Mexican Independence Day
•December 1st – Change of Federal Power Day (This holiday occurs every six years with the swearing in of a new Mexican President)
•December 25th – Christmas
As the legal holidays when needed to pay double or triple time. This time, no mention of Easter

Re: Double pay over Easter.
But not part of the ones you have to pay triple for if they work.

Sure, anybody can close or stay open or whatever. Same with your employees, you can give them time off, make them work for regular pay or pay them double, triple, quadruple, or what ever you want, over and above their regular pay.
As i said, it is voluntary and up to you.
Christmas is the only exception to the religious holiday ban for penalty/increased wages for working a holiday. Not even 12 de dic.

And the information will never be updated because Rolly died. His information lives on but it would be good to double check it elsewhere. Things change. However, if you can confirm his information, he does a better job of explaining things than nearly anywhere else. Your good work lives on Rolly!!!!
