Re: Swarm 19
Here is a link to Perry's website. http://perrysfishnchips.wix.com/surfnturf
He will have a "donation special" on swarm day.
150 pesos will get you an order of fish and chips and 100 pesos will be donated to helping Mario.
Come on out and enjoy.

Date - Mon. Feb. 24/14
Time - 1:00pm
Please let us know if you can make it so we can give Perry an estimated head count.
Since this is about Mario's need, you can put me down for being there, in one way or another. I may not be able to join everybody for food, but you can count on a little support/contribution at least.
And I do like Perry's chili, and chowder, and his burgers. And those tiny lime pies kick me to the moon.

I usually go there for lunch on Thursday.
I can let him know then.
BTW, how many will be in your party?

Re: Swarm 19
We were there this week and he was wondering about the head count for ordering buns or something. You might give him an approximate ASAP so he can lay in supplies. :)

Re: Swarm 19
I gave Perry the number for Monday (26) and he is looking forward to the event.
Mario and the golf cart will be there, and Perry will be offering 2 "donation specials".
150 pesos will get you either fish and chips or a hamburger, with 100 pesos going to the repair of Mario's golf cart.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

I'm sorry I have to cancel. Need to go pay my taxes in Joco and probably won't make it back in time.

No that's the problem, I can't go the rest of the week. Should have gone earlier but was in the US. It looks like a good crowd and I'll go next week with a friend and do my bit then.

A great big thank you to all who came out today and helped Mario get mobile again.
Perry was impressed too. We ate all his fish.

Re: Swarm 19
I chatted with Mario after the swarm and he was overwhelmed with the response, support and love shown to him today. I'm processing the video and fotos - stay tuned. On behalf of Mario and myself, a big thanks to everyone who came out today.

Re: Swarm 19
Can we get his seat fixed also? Something sporty in a fabric to match the flames on the side maybe.

There are still some things to be done. Brakes, seats etc.
Phil has estimates for some of the work, and will be getting estimates for the brakes.
For a complete update, see this website http://prylett.wix.com/help4mario
We are almost there.

Re: Swarm 19
Pictures of the swarm are on the site too. I will be posting a video too.
The mechanic is coming tomorrow to check out the brakes, which will definitely need some work - either adjusting or replacing. I took the seats off the cart yesterday and discovered an alarming amount of rust that had eaten through quite a bit of the seat base. In one case, I was turning a bolt to free the seat and it just broke the metal because of rust. However on each seat, there are three good anchor points, so I will ask the mechanic for advice on whether it can/should be fixed. I have three nuts and one screw that are holding the guard rail that are stuck tight. I am trying to let WD-40 work on them as I don't want to cause any more damage. They have to be removed before I can take the seats to the upholsterer. The mechanic also pointed out some metal damage to the battery compartment caused by leaking battery acid. I haven't got an estimate on that yet, or whether it is absolutely necessary. It is an old cart and at some point you have to weigh the value of what is fixed. I anticipate it will need continued maintenance down the road.
Regarding pimping this ride, I am more than happy to make it as attractive as possible (after it is as safe as possible), but I am not sure how to do this. My plan was to get the seats reupholstered and rebuilt, clean the entire cart, inside and out, repaint the black metal structures, shine up the fiberglass cover, polish the wheels and tires, clean the carpets, armorall the rubber, and paint the edges of the fiberglass cover to scratches. If anyone has any other ideas, and as long as they are covered by the donations or don't cost that much more, I would be happy to make it as padre as possible.
