Swarm 18 - First swarm of the year
Pepe (of pepe y aurora fame) suffered a heart attack in November.
He has been back on the job for a while now, but needs many meds to keep going.
This comes after Aurora slipped and fell and injured her knee and needed to stay off her feet for some time.
All this happened after their little dog had 4 pups, and the dog and the pups all died after 5 weeks from and undetermined infection.
Not a great year for them (last year was no so good either as they lost their daughter).
Perhaps a swarm could provide not only a financial boost, but show them that we care and want small places like theirs to survive.
Anybody up for this one?

How many people do you think they can comfortably handle without being overwhelmed?

Pepe can handle 30 or 40 people.
I am in.
How about Monday, Jan. 13/14? That will give us a week to round everyone up.

Good plan! They're nice people. Probably should give them a heads up so they have enough food.

Is this the Pepe's on the plaza in Chapala? If it is it might not hurt to give menu selection as well. We'll have 2 ribs!

No, it is Pepe's & Aurora's Restaurant on the caraterra in West Ajijic. North side, just west of La Huerta Eventos.
Re: Swarm 18 - First swarm of the year
I will try to remember to pick up a menu when I am walking past there tomorrow and will post it here.

Re: Swarm 18 - First swarm of the year
While it is great to see Zenwoodle's suggestion for this "swarm" complies with RoofBob's original concept, maybe it is time for the attendees to remember what the concept was all about? If I understood RoofBob's original suggestion correctly, the swarms were to give a shot of extra business to establishments which might just be hurting financially? But from the posted photos, the swarms seem to have turned into a party that is all about the participants and provide very little info about the actual restaurant.
Please stop and think about just how often you read an inquiry on thing forum or TOB as to just where a restaurant is. How hard would it be to post a photo of the entrance from the street which might just trigger someone's memory that they have seen a spot driving by or post photos of the food? When was the last time any of you wrote a positive report on this restaurant on this forum or on TripAdvisor?
The last couple of swarm reports have been nothing more than self promoting photo groupings and some casual comments about how well attendees tipped.

Huh? Say what? Does this mean that you are attending or not?CheenaGringo wrote:While it is great to see Zenwoodle's suggestion for this "swarm" complies with RoofBob's original concept, maybe it is time for the attendees to remember what the concept was all about? Re: Swarm 18 - First swarm of the year
I think I understand what Cheena is saying:
The Swarm concept was and remains a good one. It would be more helpful to the intent if "After Party" postings contained more information about the restaurant along with photos of the exterior and of the food as well as of the forum members who were there. He also suggests that in addition to posting and/or attending Swarms, posters can help a restaurant by posting positive reports on local forums and TripAdvisor. That is how I read it anyway.
I think CheenaGringo´s post was commentary, not RSVP.

Looks like we are at about 20 so far. It would be great to get 30 or more. Pepe & Aurora are great people who can certainly use our help during these trying times for them.
