Mexican Federal Palliative Health Care Directive, or NOB health care directive Empty Mexican Federal Palliative Health Care Directive, or NOB health care directive

The State of Jalisco does not offer health care directives, or powers of attorney equal to what you can get from the Mexican Federal government or from the durable powers of attorney, with health care directives, from outside of Mexico.

The Mexican document is a gift from the federal government ..... whether foreigner or national, the legislation sets out health care directives very similar to what we know NOB. You can check my website, www.lifeplanninginjalisco.wordpress.com or the facebook page Life Planning in Jalisco, for a copy of the legislation, a sample format for the document, and some basic instructions. The website also has some background information from two articles found in the Guadalajara Reporter.

You do not need to have the document prepared by an attorney or signed by a Jalisco State Notario; it's a federal document and the requirements are set out in the document. If you want to have the document signed by a Notario, you can do that, but it does not make it more legal.

Once you determine who you want to act on your behalf (it can be a mix of people, locally and NOB), set out the health care directives you want or don't want, you only need to date and sign the document and have it signed by two witnesses (Spencer suggests getting a copy of the voting papers or passport of those witnesses). The document remains valid until it is revoked or a new document is made.

The publication that supports this information is Life Planning in Jalisco which is now available at

Integrity Medical Office (next to the car wash) on the Libremiento in Ajijic (just up from Walmart).
The cost of the publication is $200mx and is also available at the Law Office of Azucena Bateman or Diane Pearl's Tienda, both on Ocampo in Ajijic.

Also, Dr. Juan Pablo Loza who practices in Chapala is familiar with the Mexican federal legislation. So, if you are a patient of his and would like help with the directives that are found in the legislation, you can make an appointment to see him.

You can download a copy of the legislation from the facebook page, Life Planning in Jalisco and a copy for the form/format for the document from the website and it may also be on the facebook page.
