Still need a CURP?

Do you still need one to get a cell?
Looking for current info since so many things change.

I did not need to show my curp last year when I bought from telcel.

I didn't need one when I got the simcards for my Iphone's. Apparently they had a CURP number there they used for everyone.....jajaja.

Sounds like so many answers to questions in Mexico - maybe?, possibly?, depends on location or day of the week?

That sounds about right,when they passed that law some jokers were using el chapo's curp which can be found by googling it.

Apparently a URP is no longer needed for a cell phone. But I needed mine earlier this year to renew my Jalisco drivers license

Yep ... needed for driver licence and a few other things. Many have a CURP number on their visas ... but still need the card for some things

Didn't need one to buy 2 phones,
So, if anyone is wondering, not needed for cell phones as previously stated

I always thought the CURP for cell phones in Mexico was odd. I have brought into Mexico many cell phones, all unlocked, simply buying sim cards.

Never purchased one here and a little off topic.

That's what we heard too, Sparks. (When I see we, I'm referring to everyone around Lagunanet our local ISP when I was there) I remember that a lot of folks were entering Carlos Slim's CURP # and getting away with it :)
