Re: CURP
My office does the CURPS, we have you sign 2 forms and get copies of your passport and immigration document. Immigration gives them out and there is no way to check when they are ready so you need to hire us or present the forms and copies, wait in line to turn them in and check back every few days to week to see when ready.

Re: CURP
Has it gotten that involved? Can you no longer get a CURP at the municipal office in Ajijic?

Re: CURP
Is it the same for a DIF? What are the docs needed for DIF?
What are the costs for CURP and DIF?
Do we just drop by your office or do we need to make an appt?
Thanx

Re: CURP
No more CURPs for foreigners at municipal office, yes about 9 months ago it changed and became a hassle, drop by anytime with passport and immigration document.

Re: CURP
There is no such thing as a DIF. The DIF is a department headed by the wife of the Presidente locally all the way up the the wife of the Presidente of Mexico.
There are a couple of cards you can get at the DIF office
One is Federal and is called the INAPAM card. It is a card for senior citizens and is used as an ID card to obtain discounts out of States. Discounts on museums, buses , and other things that are offered at the will of the businesses.
The local card from the DIF office will cover you for discounts for Jalisco trips, classes at the DIF and other things as well.
To get both cards you need to apply at the DIF building in Chapala, Jocotopec or whatever head of municipality you live in. There was a thread from Shana on the subject this week. The office is out of cards right now and periodically runs out of cards, communicate with Shana and Trailrunner who wanted to get cards as well and have been here for a while.
If you are not 60 you do not qualify.
