Re: Moderators Responsibilities
Are you applying for a moderator job, Hernan? I would be interested in knowing the total number of members vs the number of "regular" posters on TOB so we can use that as a crossbar. I'm betting our percentage of "regular" posters vs members is higher.
This is my calculation:
If we have 1387 members with 25 "regular" posters as you say then our percentage is 1.8%. (You may need to define "regular")
TOB has approx. 11,480 members so at 1.8% they would need 206 "regular" posters. I doubt they even have half that many "regular" contributors.
Now I am not a member on TOB and rarely look at it however if you want to confirm/deny my numbers I would love to know.

Of course she has.
That didn't take long after a half dozen innocuous posts, to then jump into the troll suit. Did the same thing on TOB...nice and sweet, and then turned into a feral pit bull without any warning.
Gets attention.

Hernan:
It appears that you joined TOB on April 18th and have made 97 posts and then joined this forum on April 22nd and have made 9 posts. Unless you have credibility earned posting under another name, where did you earn the right to enter and immediately start bashing the activities of others? I would be willing to wager that many within that gang of 25 (as you call them) have voluntarily contributed a fair amount of Mexico related information mixed in with their other conversations?
Could it be that starting a "politically correct forum with approved behavior" is something that you should consider as a public service?

Hernan is correct.
Comparisons to C.c are not valid. Lots more dead folks. They are also a different class.

Always good to hear from the number two man in the gang of 25. Thank you for helping me prove my point, Neil. Did not know I had to have a resume approved by you before I could post. Thanks for the info

This is fun. It's like that game "Where is Carmen Santiago?", only this time instead it's "Who is Hernan Santiago?"
I vote "Terry", and whatever other sixty member names have littered his internet past.

Re: Moderators Responsibilities
Moderators should not ask for opinions .... unless a meltdown is eminent. You Internet hang out where you feel MAS O MENOS comfortable an hopefully the other 90%+ you spend in your real life
What a long thread
What a long thread
Re: Moderators Responsibilities
Why shouldn't I ask for opinions and how would I know a meltdown is eminent? And then if I knew what a meltdown was, and it was eminent, what question should I ask? TIA

Re: Moderators Responsibilities
A recent example of a meltdown was the Dr. vs. Seis. another example,Seis vs Spencer. of note same person in my opinion way out of line.
I thought the mods should have shut it down as soon as it got personal.
Take it to pms, give warnings and ban that poster. His history is to attack.
Any poster like John or Talisoian will get grief from the usual suspects. John had been told repeatedly how and why his behavior invoked the ire of forum regulars. He should have been banned.
When Mike the other Dr. was unjustifiably crucified for his beliefs. The usual suspects antics and their groupies homed in. The usual suspects should have been given a time out and told any behavior similar to this would result in permanent banning .
E- Raq went off the rails also, sometime a poster needs a time out not a banning.
The way I see it, is on this and local forums, because of the non anonymity of forum population and close friendships and business dealing there is a different dynamic than a truly anonymous forum where mods do not deal with the posters personally and professionally in their daily lives.
Moderation needs to be consistant The rules in place need to be consistently enforced. No cursing and personal attacks outside of the octagon should be honored with no slack being cut what soever.
JMHO.

Sounds as though Espiritu needs to start his own forum and run it according to his own rules. In lieu of that, maybe he should stop reading and commenting on the ones that, according to him, are doing it all wrong. Why aggravate himself?

Simple Question - How many of the members offering up their "expert advice" have actually moderated on a forum and donated their time to do so?

Likewise, she drove a few posters "round the bend" as well, with her threats and trying to be administrator/moderator because of an insatiable desire to be an "expert" on the topics she posted on, and no tolerance if anyone questioned that "expertise". A lot of similarities to where this thread has went.
One can expect to be criticized or at least questioned no matter how great their qualifications are, on this board, or any other, as far as that goes. Besides, what evidence do we have of these qualifications, other than the poster's say so.
Links to supporting arguments and data to support one's position are not infallible.
I wonder if the "gang of 25" is supposed to be in lock step, and if so, then I see a lot of internecine squabbles on this board.
