I feel like a failure.
It took me less than 2 weeks and less than 15 post to get banned from chapala.com . Does that give me the record for quickest banning?

O.k, that didn't work. How about; How would you moderate this board?
Sorry about that derailment.
In my opinion you guys have it right, and strike the right balance. You have the Octagon which is where everyone can go to behave badly, and that is inevitable on these forums. And you moderate the other forums with.....as you said....."common sense applied consistently".
Don't change anything.

All I can say is that....he is easily amused....but I did get a chuckle when somebody started writing in Russian.
Some of my worst enemies speak Spanish, in fact, only Spanish. I wouldn't put it past anyone on this board to comprehend, at least a little, or even a lot of, Spanish....sobre todo, es México.

Without agitators this forum would be boring as all get out IMO, .
Big difference between "agitation" and personal attacks.
IMO would be for the jerks (define that term as you want) to be shunned by the members of the board as to their negativeness and personal attacks . The jerks thrive on people who either respond in kind or defend themselves. Ignore them long enough, deprive them of the "nourishment" of responses, and they will give up. That's how I do it; I give their posts all the attention I feel they deserve, which is none.
In other words: Consider the source and don't waste time on the likes of them.
IMO of course.

I believe that if you want to follow official "Robert's Rules of Order" - the moderators are bound to provide all board members with liquid refreshments during Swarm meetings.

I believe that rule would be found in Robert´s Rules of Disorder.

Re: Moderators Responsibilities
I moderate the Events and Paws, Claws Fins and Feathers forums. Doesn't seem to be much controversy going on there. However there was an event awhile ago where someone jumped in and made several nasty and negative comments about a particular event. I moved those nasty comments to the Octagon since I didn't see any value to the comments concerning the event - just someone looking for a fight. I like at least the two forums to be about the subject. If someone had a bad experience I have no problem if they state that, but I don't want any nasty stuff or fights in those forums I moderate. At least their comments still exist in the Octagon so there is freedom of speech, but I like to keep these forums about the events and the animals.
And PS I rarely read the Octagon.

I noticed that the mods are now editing the posts of members. That is worse than deletion, IMO.

Rolly tends to set an excellent example on MexConnect where he posts that he made an edit and the reason why.

Yep, if you post crap (IE.personal attack) outside the Octagon, the crap will be culled off if the post is otherwise usefull, or it will be deleted entirely if it is total crap. I guess yours was only partial crap........go read the rules.

You can call em anything you want in the Octagon. Knob, chump, butt nugget, ass breath, etc....makes no difference to me.
BTW....all that "knob" stuff was culled out of the general section too.

The rules seem to be simple with consequences clearly spelt out. Don´t know why anyone is having a problem understanding or following them. It ain´t rocket science.
