Swarm is the word. I believe they can comfortably seat about 36, but then you're takin over the joint. Pre - warned is pre armed. They will need additional floor staff on the day, and in the kitchen. That pork shank thingie they have is to die for. one order feeds two. Interested to see how how this one works out.

Re: Swarm 14
Swarm the shwarma! Has anybody else tried the new Shwarma restaurant in the SuperLake area - it is right beside the Italian ice cream place. There seems to be lots of parking down that end. The owners are Mexican Lebanese and this is reflected in their dishes. The spicy meat stuffed pita breads are always fresh and the "Arab"salad is a simple greens affair with a delicious olive oil/mint based dressing that is so popular I believe she sells it to go now. They have a big open courtyard in the back, which would be big enough for you all, and the type of cuisine -healthy middle eastern fast food- would be hot and quick. The ice cream place next door could probably serve a lineup as well

It's Shwarmex. Didn't know they had a big back patio, but I've heard nothing but rave reviews about the food so far.

Re: Swarm 14
Just to be a little nit-picky
I think they are Palestinian-Mexicans (not Mexican-Lebanese)...if you want to hyphenate their ethnicity. Fernando's Arab side family originated in Belén (Bethleham), Palestine (grandfather).
Having said all that, he still knows much about all the ethnic food from that part of the Mediterranean.
A real solid addition to the restaurant scene here. There is a big back patio, but with less ambiance than the Walmart parking lot.

Shwarmex or Schwaramex, the name indicating the food is of Palestinian heritage but with Mexican influences, is OK if unexciting . Nothing wrong with that but the cuisine there excels in neither genre. I only ate there once before leaving for Chiapas but no rave review here. The hummus is tasty enough and other dishes acceptably representative of Palestinian cooking with that Mexican influence which makes for a poor combination. The famous salad is nothing like Dawg has enjoyed in the several Arab countries in which I have traveled over the years and enjoyed in Paris repeatedly where Arabic food is commonplace. Arab food is among my favorite ethnic cuisines. I must admit that when it comes to arab food my taste runs to Northwest African food such as that of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia but also Lebanese. Syrian and Egyptian cuisine from the east. Palestinian food , which is quite distinct from those cuisines except, to some extent that of Lebanon and , perhaps Syria and Egypt, while good, is rather bland and thia restaurant has blanded it down even more generally speaking, to appeal to an audience unfamiliar with the complexitries of great Arab food. However, this is a nice family and their food is OK but rave reviews is pushing it.
I will have to try this place again because I like these folks, think they have talent and wish them success.

Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia = French colonies
Syria and Lebanon = French mandates
Palestine = British mandate
You explained your own opinion about the food but you seem to have a French bias...can't imagine why?
Hopefully, by the time you return, thay will have added a double whopper happy meal.

Shawarmex is delicious compared to other places available LOCALLY.
But we have derailed the conversation. THIS thread is about a Swarm that I think will be held at Frida, which is also a recent and very welcome addition to the local restaurant scene.
Definitely two places worth patronizing.

What a terrible time for comida! Only gringos observe such an uncivilized meal schedule.

Absolutely right, Bob. People should eat when their tummybell goes off, not to show how oh-so-into-the-local-culture they are.
Most of these gringos have lived at least a half century, and they spent that time eating somewhere between noon and two. They also had their dinner way before nine p.m. So why knock themselves out to change now?
Have a good swarm. Frida's is a fun place and if they have it, enjoy the chamorro.

Great to see everyone at the Swarm today. Frida's did a great job of hosting us. I think most people were very happy with the cuisine. I suspect Frida's will be getting a few new customers.

Re: Swarm 14
so you are leaving axixic for good?
actually, i have no interest in your answer, since the topic is an enjoyment of a fine restaurant, frequented today by 17 people, all of who seemed to at least relish the food.

Great food... really great lady attending to us... she did an incredible job waiting on all of us by herself...
By my calculations.... she got one hell of a good tip as well....lol
To all who couldn't make it.... it was a quiet event, with some very socialable people...
Some old, and some new acquaintances... what a great way to spend a couple of hours!!

He even shared, and he is dead right, the best menudo I've tasted in quite a while.
The only downside was the other person who sat at the same end, wouldn't try the menudo, and felt compelled to "knock it".
I would never reveal who that was, except for one little clue.......there's dos equis in his "name"
Seriously. it was a very pleasant group and afternoon. Would definitely do it again.

I'm slow with names and faces, but finally starting to recognize a few people after attending several times. Nice seeing everyone. Pleasant visits, good food, and unexpectedly good service for one person handling all those orders!
