New Federal Traffic Regulations and HIGHER fines! Empty New Federal Traffic Regulations and HIGHER fines!

Post by Intercasa Tue Feb 05, 2013 9:56 pm

They just published new federal traffic laws, well updated them and they are effective 60 days after the publication November 22, 2012. http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5278684&fecha=22/11/2012

Revised federal traffic laws have raised fines all across the board and for speeding (Article 136)

III. Automóviles, vagonetas y motocicletas sin remolque:
a) Si el exceso es de hasta 20 km/h, 50 a 60 veces la cuota diaria que establece este Reglamento, y
B) Si el exceso es mayor a 20 km/h, 60 a 70 veces la cuota diaria que establece este Reglamento;

So cars speeding up to 20kph over the limit will pay a fine of $3,238 pesos to $3,885.60
So cars speeding over 20kph over the limit will pay a fine of $3,885.60 pesos to $4,533.20

HUGE raises in fines, its like they want to be like California, New york or Canada. What portion of the population can afford to pay? Ya think bribery will diminish???

Ouch. Those are stinky. But "federal" laws, yes? ...so only apply to federal roads? Cuotas, highways, and...???.

Where else?

Thanks for the warning.

Speed limit varies between GDL and Nogalis. Most stretches are 110 KPH. However getting a ticket will be a major PITA as finding a location to pay while traveling may be difficult.

We were stopped last November between Tepic and Mazatlan, by a federale traveling in the opposite direction....radar...he let us off with warning, however, the new fines for up to 20 kph over limit, are huge.....up to $300.00 USD. New Federal Traffic Regulations and HIGHER fines! 851398
