There are reports on the other board of the FM renewals which were supposed to go forward if filed before the official change, being held up by Chapala. And at least one report of someone going in there and finding that the people don't have a clue what to do next at the moment.

Another strange thing is that there is at least one report of FM3 time being accepted for the new Residente Permanente.

I really feel for the people unlucky enough to have to renew any time soon.

So, why are the FM 3's and FM 2's being held up at the INM offices and everyone is playing dumb as to not know why they're not ready.
John, you're the only one playing dumb. You are playing aren't you? scratch

Why do you say that? Read MC's post above. My FM 2 went thru the old system nearly 2 weeks ago and my facilitator is getting a bunch of BS excuses from the INM office. Oh yeah, we can't process the cards because we ran out of the plastic laminate. Really, yeah sure, they must think we're really stupid to believe that crap.

She'll send me another update today and I'll hear what the latest BS is.

my immigration attorney said that everything is "frozen". they are @ a halt, & not doing anything for a few days. they may update regulations, & are in process of discussion. he will know more later in the week, or early next week. none of the lawyers know anything, why speculate?

John, as it turns out there is a very good reason for this. The government ran out of paper.

Read Spencer's post on this board. It's pretty clear. And please, stop using the old FM2/3 terminology, it's been gone for over 2 years.

No, really...they ran out of paper. The lawyers have been BYOP so they are already processing the new permanent/temporary cards...

Paper is one thing, the special paper for FM2, FM3 and the new cards is different. Today the mood was to honor the people already approved in the old system and they will get the old cards, as far as the new ones, not sure if they have them, tomorrow will be the first day for them to accept things. We will go daily and get news, we are 2 blocks away so I would rather send my people there daily to figure out this mess and be able to come out ahead and get my people done fast.

Would never claim that this is accurate info but I read on one of the forums that all of the new cards have to come out of Mexico City with an estimated time of 3 weeks for delivery?

Sort of, Mexico City is allegedly issuing new cards but my clients who have to travel are getting them within days.

Those seem to be contradictory statements, licenciado.

Immigration is issuing new cards under the old system, new for the people. I have seen no new cards under the new system. More info coming in daily, it will all be sorted out soon.
