MAJOR problem with Squirrels
I called Lakeside Wildlife Rescue, and they told us to go to .... LMAO! Asked to borrow Live traps, They told us to go to GDL for help!
I don't want to use poison, just need a couple live traps, to relocate the critters! We had none 4 years ago, now 7 or 8, tearing up furniture in the Fiesta room!
Looking for a solution!
Thanks in advance,
Jim W

Re: MAJOR problem with Squirrels
Jim:
If your squirrels are anything like the ones that I had in Minnesota, if you live trap them and release them elsewhere - they will beat you back home! Be thankful that they are outside as mine ate their way into my kitchen and then all of the cabinets. Even my St. Bernard hated them! I ended up scattering moth balls around the entry points outside and the inside points and poof gone! And I lived on 40 acres surrounded by woods!

Jim:
From my experience, the moth balls caused them to go elsewhere and that is all I cared about. I have used moth balls around camp sites at Flaming Gorge in Utah when camping out during fishing trips chasing world record Brown Trout. Defeated critters of all types where we camped but they didn't work worth a damned for catching giant trout!

Since I am not a gringo local I have no idea what it is called but I bought a large jar of moth balls there a couple of years ago.

Re: MAJOR problem with Squirrels
Jim, I had a mouse problem in my house and bought a live trap at a hardware store in San Antonio near the chicken place. It's the little strip mall with the pool and construction company on the end across from Mail Boxes Etc. They had all sizes and they were cheap. Be sure they show you how to use it - I doubt I could have figured it out on my own.

Re: MAJOR problem with Squirrels
Sonsabitches used to eat my pecans right off the trees back in Alabama and, since pecan trees and Uncle Dan´s still out on the back 40 formed the essence of our retirement package in the 50s, those little bastards were enemy number one. Had to retire to California and retire on home equity. Squirrels don´t consume home equity but watch out for those termites.

Re: MAJOR problem with Squirrels
Squirrels are not nocturnal (other than flying squirrels).
So.....torment them for a few days and they'll usually move on.
Set up a comfy chair nearby, armed with a Super Soaker squirt gun or a pea shooter. After a day or two they'll move on.

Re: MAJOR problem with Squirrels
Thanks to all for the suggestions. Used mothballs, and 2 days in a row found the mothballs kicked out of the holes.......score squirrels 2 Jim 0.
Third day bought some cayanne pepper, packed it into a 3' X 1" PVC, shoved the mothballs in again, inserted PVC....blew as hard as I could, spreading pepper everywhere.
2 days later......SQUIRRELS 2 JIM 1 NOT A SIGN SINCE

Must be snowbird squirrels from NOB since they could tolerate the moth balls but not the pepper?
